Thank you! This give me hope! I’ll add candle holds to our home routine!
For leg lifts, any advice on how to work up to full straight leg lifts? She can go 60% of the way straight legs and then we can’t seem to work up to all the way.
She is 7! She can do 10 second chin up and 5 second L hang. I’m wondering if at this point it’s a mental thing and not a strength thing? Because she has the other events nailed.
Please share stories of your gymnast who struggled with pullovers in a JO team environment but still went on to be successful at higher levels. (Or that it’s not possible. 😂 either way)
My daughter has struggled with her pullover - the other girls on her team have these beautiful straight...
Thank you! I think this was a bad cycle we were stuck in with this gym - lots of privates with no end goal. This gym didn’t have a pre team program. Good news today though, they invited her to stay in the PreTeam class after last week’s trial and will be on track to compete level 3 next year...
We have not stopped payment at her original gym, in which she does 2 50 min intermediate classes and two private hour lessons a week.
We are still in a trial at the new gym for the 3 hour 3 times a week pre team classes, they said they won’t start charging until October, so she can trial until...
Thank you -
This confusion is one of the reasons of why, aside from the commute, I’m considering switching gyms. When she started at this gym, she was selected for the PreTeam
Class and did that for a number of months, along with a recommended private class. That coach left the gym, but...
Hi! Thanks for writing back. I’m actually very hands off in terms of her gymnastics. It’s been her choice how often she goes. She asked for the private lesson, and then was having trouble with her pullover and they suggested a few lessons with a team coach to help her through that, and my...
Thank you! This is helpful. I was wondering about that too - do I tell her if they don’t take her or not.
We are on schedule for a private lesson with one of the coaches for the level 3 gym, as their classes are full/waitlisted right now - but it’s a few weeks out.
Thanks for the...
Our experiences so far have been with gyms with a ‘warmer’ touch. I’m realizing more with these responses that this is not the norm. As a parent, I do feel like I should at least know the name of the coach she’s working with. She been doing groups and privates at one gym for over a year now...
My daughter has been doing two group classes and two private lessons a week 1 hour each (4hours of gym total a week). She was 6, and was given her certificate finishing beginning, but told she couldn’t move up until 7, and stayed in beginning classes for a few months until they let her move up...
