Watched the medal ceremony for the 3 (female) USA hurdlers who went 1-2-3. No one has their hands over their hearts. Haven't seen that anyone has made an issue of it yet either.
I'm not a fan of Bob Costas and I'm glad the girls kept him off balance. They made it clear they wanted to avoid serious conversation and he had to go with the flow. He looked a bit uncomfortable and I think that's hilarious. I saw it as them not cooperating with the narrative NBC is trying to...
I used to think the color thing was silly but then I got an Instagram account. And "followed" a few gymnasts, coaches, and USAG. Then I read the comments on their posts. Now I think the the pretty colors might not be some enough for some...
Have you tried Tunnelbear? I'm watching the BBC's excellent coverage from Texas. You'll need to purchase one month of unlimited streaming for $8 but we have had no problems with it.
Go to the Tunnel bear website if you want to watch from your computer or download the app for mobile devices. I have mine on the computer. Once you turn it on, you can use your browser to access sites like BBC that aren't available in the US.
My cable doesn't qualify ( very basic) so I did the Tunnel bear thing. It works! I was able to browse the BBC's sports offerings. Only downside is that I have to watch on the computer but that's ok.

I shouldn't have to be the safety parent. I'm not completely uneducated about gymnastics especially compulsory levels. That's why I posted the question. In my experience as well as in the sound advice of experienced coaches, these skills should at minimum have a safety spot.
Thank you all for taking the time to voice your opinions and your well thought out responses. I spoke with the coach and she assures me that she will correct the situation regarding bars spotting. She let me know that I could also bring other spotting issues to her attention which will require...
Thank you for all the replies. I'm surprised to see such a wide variety of responses about spotting.
Regarding learning the squat on, there are no "progressions" that I've seen. Not sure I've even noticed if there's a floor bar to practice on. No extra mats pulled over either for the girls...
I've been in a few gyms as well as observations at meets during warm-up that coaches are spotting the tap swing/regrasp to make sure the girls don't peel off or catch their foot and hurl themselves over the low bar attempting a squat on. The other girls don't know how to do them at all, refuse...
