    Parents Communication dilemmas

Get detailed lists of what she can and cannot do. Get it from a PT or Dr. A good coach will use that to guide practice. Then your daughter does not have to. But it would also be good for her to speak up and let them know when it is hurting. My son went through a few soft tissue injuries...

Parents Fractured Ankle- training while injured

My son broke his ankle, and was in a boot for like 6-8 weeks. He wore a weight on the other ankle and did swings over the pit on high bar and rings. HE did lots of core work, strength, handstands, etc. Obviously, as a boy, he could do some things on rings, high bar, pbars and pommel, but...

Parents Importance of gym having higher level gymnasts

When my son's gym closed, and we had to switch gyms, they had no L9s or 10s. He was coming in at level 9. They had him compete lower to start the season, then moved him to 9. He made nationals and placed 10th. He moved to level 10 the next year, still the only one, and made nationals again...

    Men Basic skills help

Agree to everything said. I just want to add that my son repeated L5 (which is now L4) 3 times. He did 3 years at that level back in the day. I questioned the 3rd year but it turned out to be the best thing ever. The levels were different back then, but the gist is the same. He went on to...

Parents 4 Year Old Gymnast Advice

You are welcome. I would limit the backbends and walkovers for now to avoid serious overuse spine injuries. We love gymnastics in our house and have done a lot of amazing things. My son just semi-retired and is loving just playing in the gym for fun.

Parents 4 Year Old Gymnast Advice

she sounds like she loves it, and has some good skills. I do quiestion 3 yos doing standing back walkovers. If I recall backbends, etc are not recommended at that age due to injury risk. I could be wrong, but someone will remember. My son loved it at 3 as well, and would have lived at the...
