I’m really trying to get out of this gym and I don’t EVER want to hurt my children intentionally or unintentionally! But it’s seems I am, do I contact the gym or just immediately stop letting my children go to this gym.
I have contacted usa gymnastics about this coach and I’m waiting for a response. Next closest gym is very far away and m daughter really wants to compete this year. I could put her in cheer but I agree, this behaviour is unacceptable from me and I’m putting my children in danger.
I honestly don’t know why I chose this gym. It was the closest gym in our area so my stupid self decided to let my 2 children come here. The next closest gym is 1 hour 30 mins away though and obviously when my children were in pre school classes it would be weird to make such a commitment.
My youngest daughter (XB) is 11 years old and has been in Xcel Bronze for 3 years now, I absolutely hate this gym that’s she’s at because one of the coaches is a p*do and the head coach is verbally abusive. My daughter has came back from every gymnastics practice crying because the coaches love...
This coach has a history of being very abusive and has been fired from other gyms in the past….unfortunately they are head coach so there is not much I can do. I honestly have no idea how this coach has even got hired at other gyms, but this gym is very toxic so it makes sense.
This thread is old but I will still say my gym:
My Old Gym Had:
Xcel Bronze: Ages 7-12
Xcel Silver: Ages 10-13
Xcel Gold: Ages 13-16
Xcel Platinum: Ages 12 and 16 (only 2 lol)
Level 3: Ages 8-10
Level 4: Only one and she was 12
Level 5: 11 (Only 2 and they’re both 11)
Level 6: 12 and 14 (Also...
I don’t know much about gymnastics in the UK but I’ll look more into it soon, what level is she? If the gym only has lower level competitive gymnastics, then it’s definitely time to leave for a high level gym, if this gym has had high level athletes in the past than it’s completely normal to be...
Hi Parents, my eldest daughter (XG) is only 13 years old and told me that one of her coaches said she is developing too fast and she needs to get puberty blockers or she would get fat and wouldn’t be able to do well. I was in shock because 1. That’s completely inappropriate to say to anyone, and...
It’s best you maybe try spotting her for a few kips very heavily so she can do it with straight arms easily, every turn in bars spot her less and less until she can finally do it by herself. This may work for you because I also used to have a level 3 like this when I used to coach. Hope this helps!
I think strap bar giants would be great practice because it’s a lot easier to make it over (so she can focus a lot on things like keeping her body tight) I think also she should maybe do a few with her coach where she tries to stay tight and squeeze as much as she can. I hope these help!
I would say if your gym only goes up to levels 6,7,8 and you’ve reached the highest level that the gym offers, then it is time to switch gyms. If your daughter has dreams of being a level 10/NCAA gymnast then I would say it’s best to look for a big gym in your area and request a try-out for...
Hi JO Parents! My eldest daughter is an Xcel Silver gymnast who will be switching to JO in the near future. I don’t know much about the JO program so based on my daughter’s skills what JO level would she be?
Beam: Handstand, Cartwheel, Front-tuck off beam, back walkover on low beam, just...
My daughter used to struggle so much with round-off back-handsprings until we found what the root of the problem was and now she has it easy peasy. What level is your daughter in? Many things can cause stress over a skill including puberty, stress from school or other sports, general anxiety...

My daughter is 11 years old and currently training Xcel Silver. She feels very behind for her age after seeing these videos and I really want her to realize everyone gets skills at a different pace.
Hi parents, my daughter has recently been watching these ‘’ Gymnastics Evolution ‘’ videos on YouTube. If you are unfamiliar with these videos, they are basically showcasing a very talented young gymnast. All these videos have kids doing double backs and giants at 7/8/9/10 years old and she...
