My daughter hits her feet on the ground when doing her clear hip back into a kip. It has improved and now she is barely touching her feet but she competes in a week and would like to fix this. Any advice for her? Thanks!
Hi, could i get some tips for platinum bars?
I am working on clear hips and I am doing everything decently (at least i think) except i always have to tap my feet coming out of it to connect my kip. I have no clue how to fix it!! I can sometimes not tap my feet but only when my coach spots the...
I am looking to add bonus to my bar routine, although I could do a free hip handstand mine are very weak and I'd like to look for something better. I know I could do a stalder or toe up to handstand but are there any options that are similar besides those 3? Thanks!
I'm coming from a small gym where we have never competed in DP before (I'm petitioning in) so it's been hard to understand all of the rules and requirements perfectly. Currently my bar routine is Kip, handstand, pak salto, kip, handstand 1/2 pirouette, kip, jump to high, kip, handstand, giant...
So DD is currently training Xcel Platinum and their coach is having them heavily train clear hips and “cast away kips ”. DD has a pretty good clear hip (she drops fairly welll, gets good clearance at the end) but she can’t figure out how to fix the kip out of it. Her coach says she’s not...
Ok, so DD is 16 and she wants to get to Excel Platinum. She is not confident in her bars at all... says its her weakest event. She needs to get her clear hip to a kip consistent before she can move up (hoping to move up this season). As of right now, she is doing the clear hip from standing on...
I used to have a really nice Cclear hip above horizontal, but then I stopped working them in the summer and hurt my back and it has become more of a back hip circle that’s pikey :( anyone have tips on how to drop well to get my clear hip back to above horizontal? Thanks!
My DD competed twice at level 6 this year and is going to be moving to level 7 at her next meet. Her clear hip is quite low and we are gathering it’s a decent deduction and now she’ll be doing it twice :)
Here’s a video of her bar routine
Wondering if anyone has any experience in drills or...
I get the opportunity to assistant peer-coach level 6-7s, as a level 9, on one event of choice for an hour. I chose bars. This is just something fun my gym does in the higher levels as team bonding, and it always seems to be helpful, as the lower levels get been-there done-that advice and...
My daughter is getting ready to compete level 7 and I’m a little confused on clear hip angle requirements for bars. Her routine (for now until the clear hip handstand into giants is more consistent) is kip cast handstand, clear hip (usually around 45 degrees, sometimes a bit higher) kip cast...
Do some gymnasts find clear hips to be a scary skill? My daughter has struggled with them for years. Before taking a 13 month break she had decent upper body strength and could do a nice back extension roll. I think some of the issue now is strength but wonder if it could be something else...
Hello all!
My gymnasts are working clear hips, and the part they're struggling with is learning to swing them and ride their momentum. They're gripping onto the bar so tightly they can't shift their wrists! They don't need to hit handstand yet, and we do a few drills for these, but I'm hoping...
I'm clearly doing something wrong, because most of my girls (level 7&8&9 skill level, but not in the US) have this bad habit of doing a straddle cast handstand that doesn't entirely go to handstand, closing the legs super late near horizontal (on the way down) and going to the clear hip from...
Dd's L7 bars are finally coming into focus. The handstands are to vertical or nearly so. The giant is decent (probably .1 off for a slight arch). She's finally gotten her giant flyaway back - no more fears or releasing early or late. Now it's the just dreaded clear hip. It's too low and she's...
Hello all, my dd is going lv6 she has her cast handstand but is having trouble with clear hip. She doesn't get the space clear enough between her hips and bars. Not sure if that makes sense. :/ no drills are done but spotting. And that is not helping her. What else can she work on?
Just curious..(and really don't want my dd's coach to know I am a secret CGM). What are the pre-requisites for training the clear hip to handstand? Kipper has a decent clear hip, some days better than others, but normally above horizontal. She has mentioned doing some spotted clear hips to...
DD came home today excited that she is starting drills for what she called a front clear hip. When I looked confused, she said not a front HIP circle but a front CLEAR hip. Now, I remember her doing front hips in old L5 bar routine and she's been doing clear hips in her optional routines for a...
