My 6.5yo started a rec class at the beginning of the fall, and she recently got invited to the Xcel bronze team. Two separate coaches told me over the year that she has a lot of natural talent, which surprised me because she is at the 99.6th percentile for height. She’s 52 inches tall at 6.5...
Watched Whitney Bjerken's most recent video, and in it she stated that she is 5' 8", almost 5' 9"... I was FLOORED. She is obviously tall for a gymnast, but I always assumed she was in the 5'4"/ 5'5" range at the absolute tallest, and she just looked tall standing next to the other girls...
I’m starting a new thread for this so as to not be a hijacker! This is of great interest to me. My daughter is tall for her age and I often wonder how long she will be able to last in this sport. She is a bars girl - but I always figured bars is the first event where height will become a...
I'm 5'5" pretty tall for a gymnast so I'm always curious how tall other gymnasts are! I'm a tall gymnast but I'm super short for my family, most of my family is either close to 6' or above  And I'm likely done growing as I'm approaching 15.
I was watching the meet last night and she looked so tall next to the other athletes. I know they mentioned she had a growth spurt but I never heard them say her actual height.
If a child is told to do extra conditioning and body-weight type skill work (v-sit, press handstand, etc) at home in L5 ...
Assuming 3 day a week training with either 1 or 2 days off between each workout.
If doing extra, is it best to do extra conditioning (in excess of what the group is...
I just started gymnastics again after two years and in that time I had a growth spurt. I am now 5,7 and when I swing on the high bar my toes touch the ground. The bars can't go any higher. Does anyone have suggestions on how to swing without my feet touching the ground??
Does anyone have any tips for overshoots for tall gymnasts? I have one that can do an overshoot great with bent knees...but she is not comfortable with straight legs. She could fit by scooping up and through...but I'm not having much luck. Any tips?
Hello! I found out about CB by word of mouth so to speak and decided to check it out. I've been a HUGE gymnastics fan since I can remember. It was my older cousin through marriage who had the short genes and was a L 10 gymmie and cartwheeled and handspringed around me showing off that spurred my...
I hate being tall, It makes bars annoying because all my other team mates are short so the bars are adjusted for them and not me.
I'm at the end of 5'4.
Hi. My dd loves gymnastics, and she is doing well. She is on pre-team (developmental, approximately level 3), and the coaches are impressed and planning for her to joing team - great! Although she is only a little above average height for her age (6 years), I am 5'9 and dh is 6'10...
Hi Everyone,
My 5 year old just started gymnastics a few months ago (about 3) and will be moving up to gym 2 next Friday. She LOVES the sport, so it seems like we'll be around for a while:). Besides gymnastics she also does ballet, fencing (foil not saber) and golf.
The only thing that...
My DD, who just turned six, has been taking rec gymnastics for about 6 months, and will likely begin on the Level 2 Team in January. Unlike many of the other parents who've posted, I don't think she's particularly talented, but boy does she have persistence and focus. She really wants to learn...
Is there a standard formula for determining an appropriate bar height in relation to a gymnasts height? My dd is 5'6" level 7. The bars have become a stumbling block. She is expected to conform to the shorter gymnasts settings on bars however on vault, the table is adjusted. This has not...
Hi all,
I FINALLY have a question to ask. Been a while since I've posted :) My dd's coach said the other day that she thought my dd would have to work harder at getting her skills. At first I thought maybe it was because she didn't start gymnastics until she was 5, but she said it was because...
