Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1

Hey,

I'm no expert, but I did once get lower level judging accreditation in my country. that's a different system than the US so take what i say with a grain of salt.

By far the biggest deduction os your big wobble. other than that its a very good routine.

Potential deductions i see
- flexed right foot on mount
- pauses and hesitation. imo a lot of them.
- one big wobble.
- handstand didn't quite reach vertical
- tempo variation needs some work. This is mostly because of all the pauses and hesitation
- artistry: some motions look not quite finished and not quite fully extended. this could be seen as lazh.

For example to give an idea, i will go into full detail. this may seem super harsh and critical, that's jusr cause the system i learnt is pretty much the elite system. it looks harsh even if i were judging simone biles so please don't let it make you feel insecure, its a very good routine.

in the first video i see
- nice mount with one flexed foot. could extend a bit more into your arm twirls and properly finish them so they 'pop'
- pause
- swing legs to beam to stand in pike
- small wobble/regrab of beam as you're getting up from your mount
- needle kick, could be a little more tight
- low speed steps with small hesitations, slightly holding back in thr arm movmeents
- re-step into the full turn (lift foot to put down in same spot)
- full turn - a little foot flexing, big wobble.
- steps, slight insecurity in the movements
- pause and mini wobble
- steps with leg raise. i dont know the demands you have for this. its above horizontal for a tiny moment. if its meant to be a two second hold above horizontal i wouldn't give it.
- some paces
- pause
- handstand. fleeting (not 2s). near horizontal, maybe 10 degree below it.
- connected back handspring. beware that you dont slow down more on the connection or it might no longer count but right now its good.
- lie down on beam
- hesitation
- more choreo

Where im from, every 2s pause is an immediate deduction same as a re-step. hesitations and lack of confidence add up to an artistry deduction (confidence). lack of variation in pace (everything is slow paced) is an artistry deduction (pace).
I alsp didnt see any movement sideways or backwards, where im from that's an artistry deduction too but it might not be in your level. otherwise I'm sure your coach would've put it in your choreo. the same goes for a lack of work in releve. or its in the second

Ill leave the second video be except for the biggest things
- your releve could be higher
- your split leap is only 100-110 degrees i think. (Hard to see at this angle). with the feet both fully flexed.

I hope this helps. Again this is me being very critical, i don't know which deductions count at your level. i think itd help a great deal if you worked on your turn, your split leap and your confidence.
