Cher,

Could you call the meet and ask them to mail the goodie bag? If you explain you may find a supportive parent willing to send it.

Or call and ask them if a teammate's parent can pick it up. They could tell you where to tell her to go and who to ask for. "yes, we'll leave it at the gift table and if it's not there, ask for Bob and he'll be able to get you one."

I hope this coach doesn't want any favors from you any time soon.

Ask one of the other team parents if her gymnast could pick it up for your daughter. Stinks that the coach won't do it. I could understand a reply of "Oh, we were hoping she's be there to cheer on and support her teammates! But if she can't be there, of course I'll get it for her."

I though of that too and one of the more seasoned parents said that a mom did this for a girl a fw years back and the owner and coach went bilistic on them for doing that and promoting lack of team spirit. I don't think I would want to put a parent in that position. So for this one comeing up we will go but the next one is ify.

There are a few families I would send her with but most don't live near us. the gym we go to is about 20 - 30 min east of us and most live closer to the gym. They would have to travel that time west then turn around and go back about an hour east to the meet location. Not convienent at all for any of the parents. there is one family that lives near us but won't be going to the meet as they have another obligation to go to.

I think the coach is taking this "team spirit" thing a little too far. It sounds like more of a control issue than a desire for team spirit.

Yes I agree with the control issue. Several of the parents have said that too.
