Parents Communication dilemmas

I’m a little lost, asking for advice. My daughter has been injured here and there this season. No broken bones but whole lots soft tissue Injuries. I don’t want her to miss a lot of practices since she can still do modified exercises without using her injured body part. But everytime I spoke to the coach she will still let her do whatever she is not supposed to do, then I ask the coach latter, coach said my daughter didn’t say it hurts. Then I ask my daughter she said it hurts a lot but she was so scared of telling the coach she didn’t say anything. So I’m stuck here being the useless communicator between them. Now I just resorts to not send her in at all because it’s totally not worth getting a more serious injury from something rest can fix. So what should I do here?

Get detailed lists of what she can and cannot do. Get it from a PT or Dr. A good coach will use that to guide practice. Then your daughter does not have to. But it would also be good for her to speak up and let them know when it is hurting.

My son went through a few soft tissue injuries (shoulder, wrists, ankles). HIs coaches would listen to him if he said he could not do something due to pain. We also had his PT list out exactly what he could and could not do. The coach often made that list even smaller.

How old is your daughter? Up until very recently all communication like this came from me, along with a Dr. or PT note about what she can/can’t do. She’s 15 now and I trust her more to communicate on her own, but for more serious things I definitely still will text the coach myself and/or send her with a note from the Dr/PT.

She is 9, so I talk to the coach most of the time. I’m getting that detailed list from her pediatrician ASAP, thanks for the advice.
