First, the college camps, for the most part. are not coached by the college coaches. There might be one of the coaches there but typically the staff at college camps is made up of guest coaches and current athletes. So whatever gets "taught" can be counter to the coaching that they are getting everyday. Also, there is a slight risk of injury, as these staff are unfamiliar with athletes, how they train, what skills they might need more oversight etc.
College camps are only good for seeing the campus and facilities. Given the choice between a well-connected, respected club coach and going to a college camp, and the impact on being recruited, I will take the club coach, 2000% everyday. The first calls college coaches make are to the club coaches. As someone who just went through this process with my child, I was really taken aback by how much the colleges depend and listen to the club coach and how much the club coach is the primary facilitator in the recruitment process. Our club coach was the one who initially contacted colleges to tell them they had athletes that were interested in the college and shared videos of practices. Unless you are in a gym that is a bunch of young unknown club coaches, I would listen to you coaches, Our gym also does not like girls going to camps (although it does happen and there is no strictly enforced policy). And also I would add this is really only in reference to the l9 and L10 girls.
