I’m so sorry that’s so sad. We often compete against Bull City and I’m always amazed by the talent and polish those girls display. Hoping the dust settles and everyone ends up in a good new situation.

It's really sad what happened to Bull City. As a long time parent at one of the gyms that you mentioned some will be going to, we have taken quite a few gymnasts from there the past couple of years. Years ago, Bull City was definitely one of the strongest gyms in our state. I hate to see how it ended up. Good luck finding a new gym home!Yes, they did. BCG absorbed many of the elite track girls and one level 10 who was previously training elite. From what I can tell, only one elite and the level 10 girl stayed. The others all seem to have quit gymnastics or maybe found other gyms I suppose (according to my DD, they all quit.). Honestly, our gym was likely going to fail anyway - probably years ago. We were not in a good place when Powers stepped in...
Are they going to shut down Xcel as well? We are in the same area, looking at other gyms. Where are the others going? I'm guessing SGA or Sonshine? Most gyms in this area don't do elite, unless you go towards Charlotte.Bull City Gymnastics in Durham NC
I feel like that was her goal, to create chaos with USAG programs for some personal grudge she has. She has certainly destroyed some very successful elite training programs and long-standing, well-known gyms. What a mess Powers has made of so many gyms, I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.![]()
And isn’t she no longer even involved?! I just don’t know what her goal was. I’m guessing make money at all costs.I feel like that was her goal, to create chaos with USAG programs for some personal grudge she has. Was there any gym that she didn’t destroy?I feel like that was her goal, to create chaos with USAG programs for some personal grudge she has. She has certainly destroyed some very successful elite training programs and long-standing, well-known gyms.
Capital in TX seems to still be going strong. They had several girls at DP nationals. Was there any gym that she didn’t destroy?

Evo is the leading men’s competitive gym in the country at this point but they are not running it according to the same playbook as their other gyms. It’s a weird thing that doesn’t really fit their overall model.
if I understand correctly, Powers is funded by private equity, so they are obligated to operate their business for the enrichment of shareholders. Perhaps the costs of running The MAG program at EVO is included in the budget as a public relations expense? The senior Elite MAG program at Evo is at least partially funded through a private foundation. It is all very convoluted. There was a rumor at one point that the entire point of this was that it was a way to get money into MAG and specifically Evo and create funding for essentially a privately-run MAG national team program. I didn’t follow it closely so I don’t know how well-informed that speculation was or if it combined two separate rumors. Making money off gymnastics seems pretty far-fetched, nevermind MAG.
