What makes you feel better on those days where you just feel like quitting? Or when you are scared of a skill and you are almost positive you'll never get it? All I can think of is that when I'm older I won't get to do gymnastics, or that if I quit now I'll never know how far I could've gotten.. Maybe the next day I would go into the gym and get that new skill, but it'd be to late.. So what keeps you motivated on those days where you feel like nothing is going right, and it'll never get better...?

I think of my life without it and then im like ummm yea im staying :P and if i am scared for a skill it really works with progressions for me like when i was scared of my front sault dismount off beam my coach put a crash mat at the end told me to try do a standing front sault and see how far i got round (i landed on my back) and she said now try from 2 steps and so on.

You need to have long term goals. I never had a problem with motivation myself, but that was because I knew I really really wanted to compete level 7 before I had to be done to go to college. So I pushed myself all through high school because what I wanted more than anything was to get my very own floor routine :) What do you want to do in gymnastics before you have to be a real grown up?

competition is my greatest motivation as well as my reasn for quitting at times, i that if im not the best than i have to fix that, but of course i cant always be the best and somethings i will lose at. My dream as a gymnast is to compete in college in a d3 school, small goal right? except when im starring down a skill thats kicking my but and all i can think is " i want to quit, i want to quit, i want to quit" just over and over, i believe that if i cant be the best then why am i still doing it? sometimes competion can be a very bad thing.
