For those of you who travel far to gym, how do you handle birthday party invites, etc. that will require you to travel back out that way on a non-gym day? Do you allow your child to go or explain that it's too long of a drive for a party? Do you have them pick and choose which are the most important to them? We travel to our gym five days a week, a little over 30 miles (but with traffic, anywhere from 45 minutes to well over an hour). I didn't really think about this part of it when we switched and I am wondering how you all manage those logistics. I want my girls to be able to nurture their gym friendships because those are the friends that they see the most, and I would feel badly having them miss over a drive... but they have been coming home with so many invitations, and it would have us driving out that far 6-7 days a week and a 2 hour party can easily take up a half of a day. On the other hand, they don't get to see those friends in school and can't easily have sleepovers, etc. Tough mom decisions!
