Overcoming Shyness On the Big Stage

My dd is a bit shy. It took her a long time just to go out for her gymnastics classes even though she had the same teacher. Well last night she had a dress rehearsal for dance on a BIG stage and she was really nervous and in her own words embarrassed. She was worried about all of the people watching her. I told her that she would do fine and told her a story about it with her getting up on stage and doing a fabulous job. She was also worried about messing up. Well, she did mess up. She had a great time anyway and forgot to worry about all the people watching. She did a tap number, a ballet number and finally an acro number. She was the last one on stage and threw an amazing tumbling pass and everyone in the theatre cheered and clapped like crazy. She loved it! I hope she does this well when she competes level 3 in a few months. I think she is hooked!
