One of the girls in our gym who is a L10 was doing a tumble pass today at practice it has some type of flip flop then 2 or 3 summersaults in the air well she didn't open up fast enough and landed on her front. Her head, and both her legs were down into the floor full force of the tumble. Thank God her mom brought her to the DR's she has a chip on the distal(?) tibia and an issue with the growth plate on the other side, they said her ankle is very unstable right now. She sees a surgeon on Thursday for a second opinion on possible surgery, pins and a plate vs a cast and crutches. She has a temporary cast and crutches now because of the swelling. She is very upset right now. I feel so bad for her she is such a good girl and this was her new floor routine with some harder skills. This was the first time doing this without a spot and this happened. I hope she can come back from this soon.

Boy that is now #3 hurt this season. I'm thankful that my DD was one of the least hurt ones.

Your prayers for her to heal quickly would be appreciated - there is power in prayer.

Thanks Gymgurl My DD was one of the 3 hurt and she just got the OK 100% visit with the orthopedic DR the Wed before Christmas. the other girl just got of crutches and is in a walking cast. I think with the above injuries this girl is going to be out for the rest of the season.

Thats to bad! Hopefully her recovery goes smoothly. it is such a bummer when you are prepared for season and something like that happens. my teammate hurt her ankle tendons? im not sure before her first season of level 10 last year and could only compete bars. and then this year she thought she broke her hand but it was only a sprain. that good news that from your DDs doctor!

geez...a trifecta! things do happen in 3's. hopefully your done for the season.:)

Ijust feel so bad for her I can't even imagine she will be well enough to come back before the end of April especially if she ends up with surgery to do L10 skills. She is a JR in HS and this was the season they were videoing for colleges - don't think she will make it now with 2 weakened legs.

I'm sending healing fairies your way as well!!! I'm hoping that surgery isn't required for her ankle!! How old is she? Hopefully not a senior!!! Glad your DD is healing nicely, as well as the other girl. Hopefully, all injuires are DONE for the season!

She is a Jr in HS. but this was the season that the coach does the videos for the girls to use for college. Our gym is very helpful in getting everything needed to present to the Colleges for the girls. Now it will be very hard to get the video they need assuming she will be able to compete again with those crazy hard L10 skills. If they have to put pins and plates in her legs to stablize them I'm not sure her mom would want her to risk further injury by trying to do that.

Do they have any videos of her performances from last season? I would assume those, combined with training videos when she is healthy again, would be acceptable for the recruiting process. Not ideal, but much better than nothing. I'm sure if the coaches have gone through the recruiting process before they will know how to "market" her despite the injury. Still hoping it's not as bad as it seems and no surgery/pins/plates are needed!

I don't think so as the gym was focusing last year on the L10 that is a SR this year. They figured they had this year to get it done. I'm hoping that some of the parents and the family have some to work with. This is a great group of parents we all watch out for each other and constantly get photos and videos of each others kids.

UPDATE

Ok the girl went to the Doctors/Specialist on thursday after various tests MRI etc it was determined that there isn't a chip in her leg thank god. Its not as bad as the Hospital stated but its still bad.

Her face from her chin to her forhead has scrapes from the rug looks like she was in a car wreck. Her Rt leg although the bone in her knee is bruised the growth plate is good but the bruise will take time to heal. Her left leg has the tendons on both the rt and lt side of the left leg are torn. Right now they have it in a boot like cast and crutches for the next 2 - 4 months and hoping the tears will mend on their own. That is what is making the ankle unstable becasue its both tendons that hold the ankle. Either way she is out for the rest of the season as she definitly won't be ready to compete for States at the end of march begining of April and definintly won't be able to qualify for regionals or nationals because of that. I feel so bad for her - its still bad but not as bad as they originally though. Prayers are a powerful thing thanks everyone for all the good wishes and prayers.
