Question about p1 vs cr3

Is there a difference between p1 and cr3? To me (speaking as someone who knows little about gymnastics) the routines they compete look the same.

Is the judging in the provincial stream perhaps stricter?

It depends where you live. P1 is a national level and CR3 is a Quebec thing.

Essentially they are identical, but this year Quebec decided to have a P1 group at it's Provincial comps, these girls are supposed to be the stronger girls who will be going towards provincial gymnastics.

CR3 is competed regionally, in one of the 18 or so regions of Quebec. CR3 Argo's do not advance to the Challenge des Regions, they just do the three qualifiers.

In theory the judging at provincial level could be stricter as CR3 uses lower level judges, but once in a while the provincial, and higher, judges do pop up at regional comps.
