My daughter is a lower level gymnast who is very keen. She's asked me a few times what are A vs B skills (and higher). Does a list exist somewhere that you could point me to which would show skills by difficulty level for the various apparatuses?

Assuming you are in the United States, to get the full, current list you would have to purchase the code of points book from USAG (https://usagym.org/women/development/compulsory/)

A free alternative would be balancebeamsituation's online code of points, but this is mostly focused on higher level skills, and some of the difficulty ratings are not applicable because BBS uses the FIG (international elite) code of points, not the USAG one. (https://balancebeamsituation.com/clickable-code-of-points/?amp=1).

The FIG code (international, elite) is on their webpage under the "rules" part. It is accessible to anyone.

FIG and USAG values are different, at least on the women's side. The FIG code is available for free from the FIG website (https://www.gymnastics.sport/site/)

The USAG code (much to my annoyance) is not available for free, but to give a rough ideaof USAG skill values:

A SKILLS:
-Anything in the compulsory routines. If I recall correctly, a clearhip on bars is the only exception for girls (though a cast handstand, which is optional on bars at level 5, is also a B)

B SKILLS:
-On floor, anything harder than a back layout or front pike, but easier than a back 3/2 or front 1/1
-On bars, the more-or-less standard Bs are a clearhip, a cast handstand, and a giant.

C SKILLS:
-On floor, anything harder than a back 1/1 or front layout, but easier than a back 5/2 or front 3/2
-On bars, pirouette, free hip handstand, and (iirc) double back dismount are the most common ones.

D SKILLS:
-On floor: double back, front 3/2, back 5/2
-On bars: common release moves (such as a pak), 1/1 pirouette

E SKILLS:
-The crazy stuff that gets "oohs" and "aahs" even at a level 10 meet. Double fronts or twisting double backs on floor, big release moves on bars (such as a tkatchev or layout geinger)

Also on floor and beam, a lot of jumps and other dance skills are hilariously over-valued imo. For example, a wolf jump 1/2 turn on floor is a B, and a tuck jump 3/2 is a C. Also let me give the disclaimer that this is all from memory, but I haven't been coaching upper-level girls for the last couple code cycles, so some of these may have changed since then.
