Well last week you may remember me saying that Kadee was so proud of herself after last weeks practice. She said she her vault onto the "big mat" perfect.

When I picked her up tonight she said that she was able to do her complete bar routine all by herself everytime.

I spoke to the HC tonight. About the lock-in, and how Kadee was doing in L2.

She said that Kadee did do a perfect vault onto the "big mat" for the first time last week, and nailed it the very first time. (up until then she had been doing her vault onto a shorter mat). They decided since she was consistant on form to move her to the big mat. First time was the best she said. After that she would forget to point toes, or bent elbows, and she said one time she rolled out of it and it was more of a frontwards roll. She just has to work on her consistancy and form on vault.

As for the bars tonight the HC did say that she was able to do her complete routine every time. She fixed her front hip circle quite a while back. She has had alot of problems with the pull over. They make her (all girls) mount without anything. She literaly has to start from a free hang. She could get her legs over then she would just be stuck upside down, legs on one side body on the other, kicking her legs like a turtle on its back. The coach would try and help her by putting her arm on the back of Kadee's legs to brace her and give her something to push off of to straighten out. But Kadee asked her to stop doing that...that she would get it herself. The HC actually said Kadee told her "I know your trying to help me, but I have to get it myself, you wont be able to help me in competition". So she has pretty much let her at it, and she said tonight it was like it just clicked. She got the pull over, the back hip circle, and the soul straddle dismount everytime. Now she just has to work on her form. (all is good upstairs, just has to keep toes pointed and knees together.

Anyway. She seems to be making big strides every week. The coach says this often happens. They (the child) feels like they are struggling and not getting anything right. Then when they nail something and they know they did..it changes something inside of them, and all their other things seem to fall in quick order right behind it.

Just had to brag..again. :D

Good job on the pullovers! My son was stuck upside down in his on Monday too and he's also so little that he can't touch the ground when he's starting. But the pull up is almost there so its getting better. Hope the new tricks keep coming.

Good for her...so exciting! When my DD was in L2 she could not do ANY of the bar routine for 6 months or so and then one day she literally did the whole entire thing by herself...and with straight legs! I guess when they are ready, they are ready!

It's fun to brag, and we spend so much time driving to gym, watching gym, and paying for gym that I think we all deserve to share our children's progress every now and then!:)

Congratulations to Kadee! Sounds like it is starting to click for her. One thing I have learned being a gym parent for five years now is that this cycle repeats itself over and over. Struggle, struggle, struggle, then suddenly bam - they get it. Then another struggle to get it consistently. Then on to the next skill!

Does your gym compete at L2 or is it just sort of a developmental level on the way to Level 4 or 5? It's great to hear she's having a sudden skill surge and is having fun!

The level 2 and 3 do compete. Only 4 comps, and all within state for the L2s the L3s go to an extra one outside state in Louisiana. (the very first one is hosted by her gym). But at L2 I feel that 4 is plenty, and all are in the southern part of the Arkansas within about 3hrs drive from where we live. I think thats perfect for her. Give her the feel of competition. She can decide from there if she wants to remain at a competitive level or if she wants to go back to rec. I think she will probably like it. She loves showing people what she can do, and LOVES being in the spot light..lol
