Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get nude briefs for my DD? She wears a 2t in underwear and those are a bit baggy in the rear, but that's fine for normal underwear. I haven't had luck in finding some really small nude briefs to go under her leotards. Tried CS in Gk, but they were huge.

Thanks!

Most girls go commando, that is naked , under their suits until they are older. :D (teens) That way we don't have to buy special under wear.

Our dd is 4.5 and she goes without. They really don't have anything that is small enough for her, I even asked her coach about it and she has not seen anything that small. Good Luck!

Yes, most girls wear a leo like a bathing suit---no undies until they go through puberty.

All ours wear nothing under their leo's, nothing looks worse than a teen or young adult competing and a pair of undies handing out from their leo (although it does look quite cute on the tiny tots). I am 27 and wear nothing under mine.

No undies here except my oldest has always worn briefs under competition leo b/c her coach at the time of her very first meet said she had to. We ordered them from Elite but she was almost 8 and wearing size CL. Even though none of her teammates wear them, she considers them part of her uniform, lol. She doesn't wear any for practice though.

My dd doesn't wear anything under her leos either. When she gets older we will probably do the gk briefs.

I was told a couple years ago by "seasoned" moms to get DD used to going "without" underware as most the gymnasts don't wear anything under them until they are much older. This avoids picking, pulling at and re-arranging bunchie undies & wedgies, LOL. My Dd now thinks of her leo like a bathing suit. Plus, as they get older and work on bars they hate anything extra that might bunch up/bulk/rub at the hips. My DD will only wear the tight mini shorts to help cushion her hips over her leo now. Hasn't worn undies since about age 4. I only kow of the GK brand that has them. Maybe try Danskin since little dancers might wear them?

The girls at our gym pretty much comando as well. There are a few hitting that teen age. Honestly, I don't know if they wear the briefs or not - But suddenly a bra under the leo is totally cool. My 7 yr old thinks she needs one too:eek:

Not to get off subject but YES gymmomntc2e6 this week now that it's been hot the gym is now hosting a new fashion show. They have on just sport bras with their leos folded over to the waist. I have sport bras from last years "sport-bra-a-thon" in the heat but I admit I do NOT like this look for 7 yr old DD & won't allow it. Some of the sport bras didn't even LOOK like sport bras, they looked like regular bras! If I were a guy coach I might be a little uncomfortable with this new Summer look.

Blackie6,
These girls should be told by their coaches that this dress is totally inappropriate for the gym. I would not allow my daughter to walk around in just a bra and her leo folded over. Kudos to you for having some modesty and decensy for your dd.:o

my DD doesnt wear undwear under her leo. She has a couple pair of Competition briefs but I think one of them still has the tags on them.

She is going to be 13 this year, I think it is time to maybe start wearing undies again.

On the Bra issue, our coach doesnt allow bare tummies in practice. There have been some styles of GK Leos that are either 2 pieces or show the belly. These are a no no. Although, my DD wears a bra under her leo - even though she barely needs it. Her 10 year old sister needs one more then her.. oy vey!

Just checked out the GK site and they do have one there in a smaller size (CXS) if that helps at all. It is the Cotton/Lycra gymnastics brief style #1406 I think.

My DD goes commando, as well, to avoid the undies hanging out from beneath. We just consider the leo like a bathing suit. Also, for this reason, we don't buy used leos.

She wears nothing right now, but she has a couple of leos that are see through. One is white shiny material and it's so see through. She also has a really light pink and a light lime color that are quite see through. In addition to that she has a few leos that are big in the leg area so when she sits in a straddle it you can see up the leo. I thought some tight nude briefs would allow her to wear these. She's really tiny and it's hard to find toddler size leos so I've bought some CXS ones that are just big in the leg opening area. I guess she'll just have to wait until she grows a bit.

How about having her wear the cute little micro mini velvet shorts over them? I think they come in small sizes like CXS or smaller even.

Last year for a brief (parden the pun) couple weeks our practice leos were shiny white....looked ok on the little ones but the big girls were uncomfortable with the see-thru-it-ness and wore sport bras, nude colored undies or the mini shorts on team day. Not too long after that mess, we got new practice leos (GK Addidas red, white, blue) and all are happy and nakie underneath again.

Post puberty for dd1 and still no undies with the practice leotards. The older girls wear bootie shorts once they need more coverage. (Some of the little girls want to wear them--and do--but it just looks silly.) The gym orders briefs when competition leos are ordered. They're dyed to match the competition leos. Even so, there comes a time when waxing becomes necessary for some of the girls.

Leo makers don't consider older girls with real needs for a bra when designing some of those leos with the fancy backs--there are bra straps hanging out all over the place.

Our gym has a no bare bellies rule for level 6 and up. Even when the girls have running days, they must cover up; no jog tops.

Anyway, for a little girl, I think commando is the way to go. Why make more laundry for yourself?

youngest dd always hated to go comando in her leos (I ended up looking for bikini undies for her and would just get plain colors ) at that age a little panty showing isnt a big deal ,I actually prefered her to go with panties since like you she had a crotch showing and I didnt think others needed to see that area of any girl.

anyhow good luck

for our more see thru leos we have bought the bikini panties from Limited Too (which run very small & shrink) and my dd's faves are the bikini panties from Target. My dd preferred panties under her leos or rather I preferred so she always wore them until last year - the bikinis did not show at all. Now she will only wear them if her leo is see-thru. Another option is to wear a nude leo underneath - although this can get warm in the summertime. But may be an option for a shorter class. We purchase ours from dancewear solutions.

My 2 dd's have always worn underwear under their leos. The wear binikis. If they are lose or baggy bikinis we don't get them. You can't even tell they have underwear on. Several parents have told me that they are surprised they are wearing underwear since they can't see it. One dd has a white see through leo and I shopped around until I found a very pale pink bikini underwear and you can't see it. At our gym for competion you have to wear leo briefs.
