I have really long (over halfway down my back), thick, wavy hair that's completely grown out (no bangs or layers) with tons of flyaways (I like to call them "frizzies", because they frizz like crazy with the least amount of humidity or sweat). My old gym required a bun for competition and it never stayed in, even when one of the team moms who was a former hairdresser did it! Now I've found that the best way to do my hair is to french braid across the front taking in hair from about 2 inches back - that seems to take care of most of the flyaways - and then just pull it back into a ponytail and use a scrunchie or some ribbon and lots of hair gel. When we get to bars I put it into a messy bun; I don't like the look as much but I've grabbed my hair before doing giants and I don't ever want to do it again! I'm going to donate my hair soon and get long side bangs and hopefully something done about the "frizzies", which should make doing my hair much easier!
