I'm new here and DD just started training Level 3 this summer. As expected, she has developed blisters on her hands from the bars. She doesn't even want to play on the monkey bars because they hurt so much :( I know this is just the beginning of many, so I figure I might as well become informed now on how to treat them. So what do you do? Do you cover them for gymnastics or just leave them? And what about home treatment? Is there anything to speed up the healing process in between practices? TIA!!

If they are open rips, we try to cut or tear the skin off carefully (make sure to not tear into fresh skin) and then use preparation H on the tender skin underneath. Her hands will toughen up as time goes on but it will take some time. You might search for other threads on rips, too - I'm sure there are lots of ideas out there!

Thanks for the tip! Had to laugh at the Prep H though :D
