Hi my daughter has been struggling on her bar routine scoring low 8’s, is there any drills she can do at home to help, she really wants it to be at a 9.1 or higher!
I don't know the Xcel code but there are two pauses in the routine, which are probably a big deduction (before the squat on and after the HB kip) also the free hip being under horizontal. I think improving that will rise her score quite a bit.
The big things I saw was the 2 stops mentioned above, tapping feet on the ground after free hip, and low cast and free hip angle. Has her SV been 10.0? With just the deductions and no SV taken away, she is losing 0.3 for each stop, and 0.3-0.5 for hitting her feet on the ground after her free hip (with SV taken, that would be 0.5 off for not meeting angle requirements).
You're losing .6 for the pauses. I'm not sure what the judges would take for hitting your feet on the ground. It's .1 if you just brush the ground but .3 if you hit/push off of the ground. I would maybe take .1 but it would depend on the judge. I would also probably take on the high bar kip since you had to muscle it up a little bit, but I'm not sure what the deduction for that would be. Work on strengthening your kip so you can make those connections smoother. Overall, not bad at all! Good work.
