So my DD just started team and will compete for the first time this fall. When I tell people this they automatically start asking about the Olympics or maybe even college gymnastics -- which annoys me.
But it has gotten me thinking (as a math fan)...
What do you think the odds are of a kid...
How many of you parents/coaches/whoever have seen girls that go all the way to level 10, and receive a gymnastics college scholarship WHILE going to regular public school. Meaning...not online courses, not modified schedules, but full on \, regular old-fashioned 830-330 public school.
I know...
Newbie here :)
How involved is your gym/owners/coaches involved in the college process for their gymnasts?
My DD is an 11 year old L 7/8. Finished her L6 season with over 38's in 6 out of her 7 meets and a Regional title on beam :)
I know it's early to think about college but it is her dream...
So, i'm not american and i don't know anything about college gymnastics. I read the term D1 teams, but what are the other levels (if there are any) and how are they different?
We have a lot of girls from our gym who continue their gymnastics career in College so I see this constant reminder that it could be a possibility. I am wondering if it is too late to even consider this for my DD?
She started girls basic 1 in 2013 (yes the class for girls who don't even know...
I just noticed something exciting yesterday and of course now I have some questions. The college I graduated from has recently added an Acro and Tumbling team...which was news to me until I saw it browsing on their website last night. They are Div 2. Was wondering, is it common for artistic...
1-2 years ago I remember looking at a website that let you look at how many times and on what event each gymnast on a D1 team competed during the year. It was a good source to see how frequently or infrequently the team used Freshman and walk-ons. I can't locate that info now and really would...

Nice to see this growing. If you have time read about the coach on this site he started gymnastics as a freshman at level 5 and was at level 10 by a senior. He went on to do Club gymnastics at Arizona State. Nice to hear success stories of boys that started late.
Also for kids...
I have a level 9 gymnast that is currently doing very well in our sport. But we belong to a small gym in miami and our coach is Cuban American.
He and two of his coaches are ex members of the Cuban national team. I've noticed that they really don't know anyone in the college circuit and don't...
I'm 17 and only at level 7. I could go on to college in 2018 like I would normally do... Or I could do a gap year and try to be a level 10 before college, which is extremely unlikely. It would mean that I would have to compete both level 8 and 9 next year, and I'm barely ready to compete 7 now...
I am starting the process of looking for colleges and I would like to be able to continue to do gymnastics in college. I am a USAIGC Gold gymnast. I know I will not be able to make it onto any NCAA teams. I know many colleges have club teams but I don't know much after that. My questions are...
Where are they? I run a year round wrestling school and every coach I have wrestled at the college level and all but one was an All-American. The one was still on scholarship as an athlete. Why do so many clubs in gymnastics seem to be so limited with coaches who have actually competed at the...
I know of several younger gymnasts (ages 11-13) who have received letters of interest from colleges. I'm curious if anyone here knows how the colleges choose these girls. Do they look at posted scores? Or do they decide based more on what they see from the girls at meets? Or are there other...
Someone posed a very good question in another thread. "Why don't we get to rate gyms like we rate schools?" Another poster said that they would pay for that information to avoid getting into a bad gym situation. So how about it? I am envisioning a website where parents and gymnasts and former...
