So...jumps on beam. Wolf jumps, tuck jumps, split jumps, straddle jumps. It sounds sort of pathetic but on the high beam, I prepare to do a jump (especially tuck jumps) and I just end up doing a straight jump out of fear. Other times, I spread my feet apart a little (or tuck them a little, for...
My dd has gone through a pretty big growth spurt (at least for a gymnast) and is almost about 5ft 1 in. She is level 8-9. They have moved the bars in closer as she will be competing a shootover this year. Here is the problem. When she jumps to the high bar, she ends up catching the bar and...
I coach pre-teamers twice a week, and I've just started twisting jumps with them on floor. All of their jumps are absolutely beautiful. (Arguably better than half the team girls.) The HC gave me the OK to start twisting with them.
Straight jumps and tuck jumps went really well, but I'm having...

What I actually want to know is whether it's 'good' for your body / considered a safe exercise?
I like it as part of my wo, but it seems like it might not be the best thing for my back and knees. I tried searching the net for potential harms it may cause (back & knees mostly) but didn't come...
kay so i've been doing a straddle quarter on beam, but it got to big and now im getting vioded and stuff. And it sucks.
SO, i need to think of a new "A" jump to do on beam.... something fun preferably...
I was thinking about doing either a Sissone, or a Ring Leap/jump
What do you think about...
My dd is struggling with split/straddle jumps. She doesn't get up into a full split when she does a split jump on beam, and her straddle jumps need some improvement. Any suggestions? She was doing them on her tramp with leg weights, but it is getting colder and that isn't an option any...
The title of the thread says it all. My child is 2 weeks from the end of her L5 season and she just struggles mightily with this jump. It appears to be so unnatural for her. She had one meet early in the season where it was like she had an epiphany and had this beautiful straddle jump, but every...
I am doing AAU Ladies division. I was told I needed a "B" jump for beam. I was told a split jump is a B jump but I am terrible at them, what other jump could I do that is a B?
i am currently trying to get 180 deggre split leaps andd jumps. I can do splits and 20cm oversplits with square ish hips ( my hips are sqaure on flat splits) but my split leaps/jumps only reach about 120, what should i do do to improve them btw i have ankle wights and a theraband.
Many thanks
Does anyone know the point to this drill? DD has been doing these for the last few weeks. At first I thought there has to be a good reason for it because it just doesn't look too safe. DD had two bad falls on the same day. Her foot got caught on the rope and went face first onto the beam! Ooch...
As you might know, I've usually had a terrible fear of jumping to the high bar and I've only done it a few times in my life. Well, today at the beginning of practice while we were warming up, the high bar was pretty low and it looked easy to jump, so I did it! And then when I was actually on...
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the JO value(letter) for a straddle jump 1/2, 3/4 and full on the beam for L10. All of these would be starting facing the end of the beam.
Thanks.
Anyone have good (maybe even fun) drills to help my daughter improve her jumps (straight & split) and her sprint to vault. She isn't a great runner... her form on the handstand flatback looks great, but her run earns a lot of deductions.
Thanks!
I'm sorry, I've already asked this question but I still need help. I am scared to jump to the high bar. The bars are the perfect distance for me, they do not need to be moved in. I don't even know why I'm scared. I do not think about the negative things that could happen, I just get scared...
I posted this on the judges forum but thought I'd put it here, too.
How high must the straddle jump be in the beginning of the Level 6 floor routine? What's the deduction if it isn't as high as it should be......and how do they get it higher??

Hi everyone, I need some serious help. Here's the story. Last season was my first year on the team(I am in recreational optional) and they were trying to get me to jump to the high bar. I could do it when the bars were really close together, but I couldn't compete it that season because after a...
