Towards the end of September I broke the middle bone in my hand (directly under the middle knuckle) tumbling. I was doing a round off back handspring (easy for me) and according to the doctor and my coach, my fingers bent causing too much force which made my hand break. Well no 8 weeks later, I am finally out of the cast and completely cleared! I can hold handstands and do cartwheels and today I did a few back handsprings without alot of pain. I was wondering if anybody had a similar break and could provide any advice on how to get back to tumbling faster? I had just gotten my layout solid when my hand broke and I am working to get all my skills back so I can compete soon because our season already started. I am so eager to get back and I'm getting frustrated.

How long did you take you/a friend to get completely back?
What is some good hand strengthening exercises?
Any advice?

Haven't broken fingers but I have dislocated them.

Good hand strength stuff would be those stress balls, rice in a bucket grasping, fingertip pushups.

Could you explain that one? Never heard of it before.

I have numerously spranied and broken my hand/wrists and elbow.
And throughout the best thing that helped me was.....push ups.
And also leaning and something and doing push ups then.
It may make it crack a lot but that's okay! It helps, I am doing this right now for my sprained elbow and
it really helps.
It may not sound like it but it does.
I recommend it
