I meant to look this up before I left work but forgot and am sure somewhere here knows the answer. I was thinking an extra swing in the level 6 bar routine was around a .3 deduction, but what about pausing to adjust grip or just stopping before the next skill? Is it the same or a lesser deduction? I just wanted to double check before giving incorrect information.

My USAG book says an extra beat is 0.3 but not sure about a stop on the bars. In the UK a stop is 0.5 but your deductions tend to be lower. Definitely to be discouraged!

If the gymnast stops it is a .3 deduction. So if a L6 does kip (stop), cast, clear hip, kip (stop), squat on, long hang kip (stop) cast and finishes the routine. She will have a total of .9 in extra swing deductions.

Thank so much! That's what I thought, just wanted to double check. I don't usually coach our lone level 6 on bars and when I did on Friday her routine was much like the one you described.
