Okay, I am coaching a prep opt team. It is the first year that we have had one, and I am having some difficulty with music choices. I have an 11 year old gymnast who really likes a cut piece of music, hip hop style. However, one of the other coaches informed me that some of the parts of it are from very explicit songs that aren't child appropriate. So, do I let her use it, or do I not because some of the audience members may recognize it.

Thanks for any help you can give!!!

Tell your fellow coaches to get their minds out of the gutter. Gymnastics music does not have words, so why does it matter. The most important thing is that your gymnast feels comfortable with the music. Your gymnast probably doesn't even know there are bad words in the actual song.

I've seen several gymnasts use a non-vocal cut of a certain well-known song by Cee Lo Green.

I don't see a problem with it.

Huh? For some reason it was showing as a new thread for me.

Odd.
