They have to do either a turning event or a flight element. So I have seen toe to highs and even a bail or two in level eight. There are definitely some options, but many gyms don't like to go there.

Beyond eight though it becomes pretty important to be able to turn. So it's important for her to stay committed to getting it.

With that being said, in our gym it was no pirouette (and a full and a beam series and a flipping vault and a clear hip to handstand) meant no level 8.

Pirouette is ideal and work should continue on it even if it's not in shape to be competed. That being said, a straddle cut catch will meet the requirement. That's the plan for my daughter while she's working on regaining her pirouette due to nagging back issues. Another teammate a few years ago met the requirement with a straddle back. Shoot half would also work.
