Gotta vent about this one!

I was at school on Tuesday and I tipped sideways out of a chair (don't know how that happened) and landed on my right shoulder. I then went to the ER as we thought it was dislocated, turns out my clavicular joint or something is sprained and than the muscles/ligaments are pulled. I am one of those kids who cannot sit still to start with and my ADD does not help a bit!

It really does suck because I JUST FINISHED doing routines the day before for Atlantics, so everyone else was already uptraining except me. I now have to wait quite a while before uptraining for my shoulder to heal.

lots of conditioning I guess :) I do one arm cartwheels and FWOs a lot now. And when I think coach isn't looking I do aerials, which I know I shouldn't do but not flipping is driving me CRAZY!

Thanks for letting me rant, I just cannot even TOLERATE not doing gymnastics!

Not sure how medical care works in Canada. Can you go see a specialist (orthopedic or sports medicine)? I had some shoulder trouble a few years ago (not a gymnast), and the general doctor gave a cookie cutter treatment plan (6 weeks of rest), where the ortho gave me 2 weeks of PT after which I was as good as new.

So sorry about the injury. I love that it was tipping out of a chair. I always say gymnasts are the most clumsy people outside the gym. I never got hurt in the gym just all sorts of crazy injury's out of the gym. Good Luck and do be careful, although I understand the want to keep going you do not want these injury's bothering you as an adult. And if you do not listen to the doctors and rest it like you are suppose to it will happen.

Really sorry to hear this! I hope it heals quickly. When my DD and one of her teammates were out with broken arms, they spent a lot of time working on leap passes, but it was still not a happy time for either of them. But I'm really glad for your sake that it wasn't dislocated.

Not fun :(. Hang in there - conditioning will make the uptraining come easier. It's important to heal that shoulder and since your not in competition season there is no rush.

I can totally sympathize with you! I have a stress fracture in my back, meaning I can't tumble or vault or flip and my endurance keeps goin down and down since I can't run! It sucks!! I am so sorry this happened to you, being away from gym is like... My life without... Well what's better than gymnastics... It's terrible. I cannot wait until I can do aerials again! Hope ur shoulder heals fast!

i know what it is like I once fractured my shoulder by jumping to high bar and my hands slipped off and fell on my shoulder it hurt so badly

Ariels gymnast can you stop digging up old threads, you are giving me a headache this morning.
