Maybe the full is her only B skill??? Maybe it is cleaner than a tuck jump full or a cat leap full or pike jump or 3/2 turn or any of the other B dance skills. That would be the only reason I can think of to have the full .... and if that is the case, I would drop the front pass (and save it for L7).
I dont know what coaches are thinking when they choreograph things to fit the length instead of cutting the length to fit the choreography.
That being said, we have an Xcel Gold that may or may not compete this year. The music she picked is 1:06 (too long for Xcel Gold). She is also new and is only in Xcel because she will be in 7th grade next year. One of our HS / L8 choreographed the routine to fit the length. The girl is NOT very dancey and NOT a strong tumbler (not competing because she doesnt have either of the required tumbling passes yet).
I found a natural stopping point in the music at about 39 seconds. We have a few girls with routines around that length - a couple even shorter. The choreographer said she could redo it ... but she never got around to it. Then the XG coach said she talked to HC and the girl could use the music that was "just over a minute" and it would be fine. Whatever. lol
That’s a really good point. I’ll have to look at the video again. Good thought! Thanks!

Mine did two passes in 6 (a robhsbt and a ft)and will do two in level 7 (robhsblo and fhsflo) and though she has a full and a half she won't add that third pass or the full until level 8 to keep things clean and minimize deductions. My dds full (according to coach) is cleaner than her layout, which she tends to pike a bit sometimes but because she needs the layout for 7 they opted to train but not compete the full, etc.

Clean and simple is their philosophy.

DD does 3 passes at Level 7. Rest of the team does 2. DD does the full. First, meet yesterday floor score was ok but others on the team did better with 2 passes. Again every toe point and every leap is judged the 3 passes may have nothing to do with lower scores, but every skill opens the door for deductions. Coach says level 7 scores do not count what counts is progression and fulfilling personal goals. In this case, she as told him she wants to be level 10. He is working with her to make that happen. Every case has its own merits, they are on their own journeys. I wish it were about winning, I attempt to tell myself and teach DD that.

Mine does the switch leap/straddle jump combo.

Really, they don't need the full at 7 and they have to have a layout.

Unless the full is technically really good it's better to wait unless you don't care about extra deductions. It is cool to see in routines (when done well) and one of dd's teammates did compete one as a 7 last year just because the coach gave in to her begging. So she had three tumbling passes.

Thank you! Good to know. Puma Jr (back to my kid for a sec lol) will need two Bs for IGC Silver. She has a decent 1&1/2 turn but I was wondering what the other would be. Her full is close so hopefully will be good soon, but you can’t twist in IGC Silver, so a straddle jump sounds like a good idea. Her switch leap is not so good...lol
Yes. Switch leap and straddle jump are probably the most common B's relied on in level 6 and 7 floor.

DD twisted in IGC sliver.
Maybe something changed? She was Silver a couple years ago, right?

Many level 7's also use a front pike as their second B, do front hand spring/front pike for the second pass.

Yes silver was two full years ago. I am old and may be wrong. lol. Possibly she did FHSLO and BHSLO.

Thank you! I forgot about that. She can do FP on tumble track, but I don’t think on floor yet. Again, I assume this will be for a year from now. Though she is hounding her poor coaches to let her do Silver completely (she is getting to be a Silver bar specialist) sigh...this kid is going to be a lawyer someday! LOL!

Ok, can I get off track for one sec? If you look at the IGC Silver floor requirements above ^^^, could a FHSROBHS (or BT) count as the front tumbling pass? Puma Jr is not the best front tumbler. The plan for now is just the L5 front pass until her FHSFT is better. Again, probably a year out from this, but just curious...

I hope they let her do silver.

For level 7, the entire forward pass has to be forward. I would read the Silver requirement as the same, but don't have experience with those requirements.

Thanks.

We’ll see. I actually almost rather her stay Bronze and make Bronze Diamond (two 35.8s, for those who don’t know USAIGC). Whatever the coaches think. I’m just thrilled she can do Silver bars.

I do remember silver front pass. DD did FHSFLO and sat it down most of the year. Her coach would not let her do FHSFT, most we competed against did FHSFT.
