Hi my DD will be out a few weeks after 3 rd injury since summer. What have gyms, coaches done to help gymnasts regain strength, skills ( such as privates, change in training structure) especially in the middle of the season?. Has any gymnasts sat out the season and worked on regaining skills.
I’m curious what criteria does a gym use to fast track a group of gymnasts and those that aren’t fast tracked are placed in a different level with ( different training) I’m confused by this rationale can anyone explain? Why not call in TOPs or a different program.
Daughter had first meet of season she has had small injuries and intermittent restrictions for past 4 months. She got a few unrestricted practices prior to this meet. She scratched one event bc coaches didn’t feel she was ready. She is repeating a level due to all the injuries.
It was her worst...
Thank you. That this can be the usual. I was thinking something was wrong with my DD just got over back sprain in PT still, now with knee pain and hurt her wrist early summer. I’m like what is going on?
She can definitely improve her diet. She loves the sport n cries if she has to think about...
Thank you. This has given me new prospective my daughter is going through this now, plus an injury. It has been difficult most of the summer. She will not be moving to next level if competing at all. I hurt for her bc she wants it n works hard. I’ll tell her skills come and go are normal.
Update: Thank you for all your advice. She scored out of level 5 this week. Now she’s an official level 6 gymnast. She is super excited. I’m very proud of her. She now comes how bright n happy.
Update:
DD moved to gym closer to home. We switched in June. Most of their level 10 go to college gymnastics, trained 1 elite. They moved her up to level 6/7 training. She just completed level 4. But will have mobility meet to test out of 5 in the fall.
Most importantly she is more than just a...
Quick question: daughter level 4 gymnast with next meet in 3 weeks and states in 8 weeks. Has AA34+, need to move her to different gym due to coaching issues n no girls are progressing in scores on team and etc. Affecting daughter- becoming frustrated, as my daughter is a serious gymnast n...
Yes she practices 12-14 hours a week, she mentioned to me that the coaches barely have time to watch girls, when she asked why she got deductions they’d say- we told you- tighten up. and only correct by saying tighten up or straighten your legs. I do not know if she knows what a tighten up feels...
Thanks for all the replies, it’s a lot to think about. I also may be moving soon, so can move closer to other gyms and closer to family that can help.
I didn’t realize 7-10 years old practiced 20+ a week. I’d think they burn out n not love the sport anymore. Again a lot to think about.
I think...
Thanks for the advice. I wanted to keep her in current gym til summer n switch. I will definitely need to have a conversation with her coach, but how do u bring up we want to go to the big gym?
I also forgot to mention at current gym last years , level 4 didn’t advance to level 5 as didn’t have skills, except the girl who left n joined big gym. So my daughter is also practicing with them. I assumed it was bc of pandemic. These girls are not scoring 9s consistently. They also have my...
Hi,
My daughter is level 4 gymnasts. She has been at current gym for 4 years. The gym has several satellite gyms. The girls at the other big gym- particularly where higher levels attend( after level 7, up to elite) , but they do train lower levels. Her current gym does not train higher levels...
