My daughter had a knee sprain, 5 weeks of crutches and 6 weeks of PT. She had an MRI and was found to have a bakers cyst. There is not much to do about it except for ice and motrin. She wears a soft brace and takes motrin before each practice but it kills her. I wonder if she would be better off getting it drained? I know they usually dont do that to kids but it is kind of affecting her skills, esp running and jumping onto vault.
What have you done for your childs cyst and did it work? thanks!

it can stay in there as long as it doesn't grow and cause problems and pain.

My daughter had one on both of her knees a few years ago. One of them dissected down to her ankle. Her calf was huge. We were sent to two specialists and it was finally decided to just leave it along because most cysts that are drained come back. The only concern was that the cyst was taking up so much room in her calf that they were worried about her muscle growth. It took about a year for it to become normal size again. After about a month, her pain was completely gone but it really didn't slow her down much. She had no restrictions about gym.
