I totally agree. I also agree with gymtigermom above when she says that the crazies eventually weed themselves out. This, too, shall pass. In the meantime, bring a book or iPod with a headset to practice, and chat with only the non CGMs. :)
Many young children don't have the body/music awareness at a young age. This is why most real ballet schools won't even start kids in ballet until 7 or 8 years old. This is something that will most likely come with time.
Also, in complulsories, "mechanical" is not necessarily a bad thing...
I totally agree with this. It sounds like you haven't booked it yet. I would choose a time that will work for all family members so that you can have a family vacation that includes the whole family. If you absolutely cannot do this, then I would agree with seeing if she can stay with a trusted...
I don't know, but it's way too soon to make that call. Even 2 years before the Olympics is too soon to tell. I wouldn't have thought that Jamie Dantzscher would have made the Olympic team over Vanessa Atler, or that Rebecca Bross wouldn't have made the team, or that Kristie Phillips wouldn't...
Ooh, that is tough. I feel for her. That darn kip! I do agree with Blair Bob on the red flags. Maybe see if she can do a few private lessons? If she has everything else, it would be a shame to have to repeat. No shame at all in being a 3rd grade Level 4, but I understand it has to be tough for...
Both are great meets, but in February, I would pick Orlando over Chicago for the weather alone!
So I vote for Sand Dollar. :)
Edited to add: Actually, I think Sand Dollar is usually in late January.
I would look into IGC. It is more expensive than Karolyli's camp, but the first few weeks of camp (in June, I think) are a little less expensive.
Also, some of the colleges have fun camps.
Yes, you will be fine. The main thing is, as others have mentioned, is as soon as you get off your first flight, look for the departure screens right by the gates. They will tell you the gate number of your next flight and whether it is on time. (It will either say "on time" or show the revised...
I respect your opinion and understand what you are saying. I guess I just feel that she should get consideration/an exception over others like Casey based on the fact that Chellsie was a World AA Champion. I would like to see her go out on her own terms at Nationals and/or Trials.
I'm not from JAX and don't know exactly where Ponte Vedra Beach is, but the gyms I am familiar with in JAX are Starlight and Gymnastics Unlimited.
Good luck with your move!
I agree with Dunno and AGM78910. Are you making a trip out there before you move? If so, can you go in observe and/or have your DD try/try out at each? Sitting in the parents' area, you may be able to get a feel for the atmosphere, coaching, whether you think it will be a good fit for your DD...
