My friend's relative is in La Reve, which I guess is like Cirque - I don't know the difference . She was a top gymnast at a top-20ish D1 university, and after she graduated her coach knew the person recruiting for the show and recommended her. She still has to audition , and I remember that she...
One activity no one has mentioned is martial arts . If you find a good dojo it can be quite intense, though not at the same level as gymnastics. I did karate years ago and we had an ex gymnast who was amazing .
Come to think of it one of my rowing teammates was a competitive gymnast through...
Rec is a possibility.. it would be keeping a foot in the door...
I may also look into other gyms, though there is an inconvenience factor there... there's also a different location of the same gym, with different coaches... we used to go there. Hmmm. I hadn't thought of that.
Also DD has a lot of interests, so now she will be free to pursue them. And i would support her coming back to gym if she wants. She's thinking about trying t&t.
I didn't mention that pre-team is administered as 3 month classes, so the next payment is in a month for the winter session. I have always told her she has to continue through the session, and she can change or quit after that.
She is not sure what to do. I think i will let her quit... i know...
My daughter is 7 and on pre-team. She has been with the same coach for the last 2 years, who has been great for her. She challenges the kids, has high standards, and keeps gym fun. But now she has been on extended leave for the last few weeks, and I think it will be another couple of months...
Ballet does not help gymnastics if it makes your daughter realize that her true love is dance and she decides to quit gymnastics. I think that's where we are. True story!
I guess it happens in my daughter's gym, she has occasionally told me "i had the best x today," or, "i wasn't the best at anything today." It doesn't seem to be a problem for her. I guess as long as they don't point out who is the worst, we're ok!
I personally don't like it when it's done to...
I know someone who was L3 for 3 years, her first year she was 6 and the first two years she was scratching lots of events. I don't know the details of what was going on, this is the daughter of a friend, not at our gym.
And then she spent 2 years in L4. I don't know where she is now.
Thanks sce! I forgot to mention that I did have a talk with DH about saying negative things about the kids' activities in front of them. He agreed that his remark was unhelpful, and he didn't really need to say it in front of her. He's going to try not to do that. Part of the problem is that DH...
Your daughter sounds mature beyond her years, and sweet. I've enjoyed reading this thread, because you have received very good advice and you seem receptive to it. I'm a little sad that a few people are immediately jumping on the "you are a crazy mom" bus and commenting as if you're not...
