Parents Does your gymmie do other activities?

My daughter (almost 8) will be level 3 next year and will be at the gym 4 days per week (3 weekdays plus Sat). She has done other activities over the years but nothing has really stuck the way gymnastics has -it's been something different each year or even half year (other than gym of course)...

    Parents Connecting RO & BHS

I don't know the answers to your questions but I will be following this thread b/c my daughter also has a standing BHS but needs to get her ROBHS by Sept in order to compete (level 3). I'm hoping it only takes 1 month!

Parents Non gym parents & Elite question

My 7 year old is also doing 7 hours a week. I agree that it sounds better in days per week than in hours. 3x per week (what my daughter does) sounds reasonable to most people. However my daughter LOVES to tell people that she does gymnastics 7 hours per week. I really hate when she blurts...

Parents Year round school and summer gym schedule?

I don't know why it is considered year round -but it truly is! All I can say is that most of the schools around here have 11 weeks off for summer and many activities (such as the gyms) have a summer schedule that starts about 2 weeks before we are out and finishes right when we go back -so in...

Parents Year round school and summer gym schedule?

My DD goes to a year round school -they get about 7 weeks off for summer. Our gym (as well as the other gyms in the area) has a 9 week summer schedule -so it starts 2 weeks before DD gets out of school for the summer. It's not a problem this year as DD's practice starts after school hours -but...

WAG Home bar? Yes or no?

Thanks for all of the helpful responses -I will not be getting a bar. Cbifoja -sorry I misunderstood you. I use this board as a sounding board for all of my CGM thoughts. And it does keep me in check in my "real life." I remember recently someone posted a question and another member said...

WAG Home bar? Yes or no?

First of all I certainly didn't say this was a unique situation! Just that I was hoping for advice about home bars that pertains to my daughter's specific situation! And yes, I can see the point that privates can be more effective for the same price -though I did see a bar on Amazon w/ great...

WAG Home bar? Yes or no?

Were you annoyed by my post? I was hoping to get some responses specific to my daughter's situation -behind on bars and hoping to stay with her level 3 group which will compete in the fall -which means that at the moment I, as her mom, am far more concerned with helping her get the skills than...

WAG Home bar? Yes or no?

I know this has been asked before with varied responses. My DD is in a level 3 training group but struggling to get some of the bar skills. She's anxious for a home bar so she can practice at home. She would be practicing all of the level 3 bar skills. Should I be more concerned with her...

Parents Do kids really train with team for summer and then not make it?

Thanks for all of the replies. To be more specific my DD is in a pre team group that will start summer schedule soon. For summer schedule they are called "level 3." 2 girls from the group will not be moving to level 3 but will move into the newer pre team group which practices on different...

Parents Do kids really train with team for summer and then not make it?

This is probably our gym too -and I think my DD is sort of like level 3 pre team with chance of getting the skills this summer while some are definitely competing in Fall. But our gym is very small -there are about 8 girls total in this group of team/preteam and they haven't used these separate...

Parents Do kids really train with team for summer and then not make it?

I wasn't given a contract or anything like that -I don't know if those with kids who are closer to having all skills were or not. So I'm not really sure of DD's "team" status. She might not actually be "on" team but maybe just allowed to practice with team.

Parents Do kids really train with team for summer and then not make it?

My DD (almost 8) is in the level 3 training group for the summer -she was definitely on the cusp of not making it into the group and staying in pre team but she was moved up in the end (and without me even asking for it). She is still missing skills as is most of the rest of her group. First...

    WAG Xcel Hours

Yes I have thought the same -people often complain about JO kids competing x cel and winning b/c they practice much more. But then one should also consider the great discrepancy in JO hours. Our level 3s practice 6 hours and there is a bronze team in the area that practices 6 hours as well...

WAG How many hours of conditioning?

My DD has one 3 hour per week practice. At this practice the first full hour is conditioning. They also do conditioning at each station (pull-ups/leg lifts on bars, rope climb when they are near the tumble track/floor, weird 4 legged walk things and sit-ups at beam time). And then they end...
