    Parents Prep 1 - Tips?

My daughter is due to compete her first grade (UK) Prep 1 in a few weeks. Any tips!?

    Parents Taking on Corrections

Yeah pretty much! It just seems like a lot for a small brain! The privates are not essential, just encouraged. My daughter seems to take things on board better with fewer distractions, so I’ve let her have a few. There’s also extra sessions most weeks. It brings her average hours to about 12 per...

    Parents Taking on Corrections

My daughter is 7.5 years old and has been training for prep 1, with a competition squad for the past six weeks. Before this she was a recreational gymnast for four years. I’m finding that she is really struggling to take in the corrections she’s being given. In the past six weeks she’s gone...

    WAG Old Grade 6/Prep 1

Does anyone know where I can find the routines for the ‘what would have been’ old grade 6/but now prep 1 under the new system? My daughters learning her skills in her routines and they seem more in line with grade 5? Thanks in advance!

Parents Any advice appreciated! (competitive pathways)

You have been so very helpful, thank you! I did think this would be the case, and would make sense considering her age. They have said they’d still train bars and beam but would mainly focus on F&V as that’s what they’re competing. It’s also way less hours. My daughter was very excited to...

Parents Any advice appreciated! (competitive pathways)

Hi everyone! Even more advice needed please! Her initial club have now offered her a place in their Floor and Vault squad, saying that when the children progress they will then compete bars and beam too… does this sound like mainly novice competitions? I’m now so stuck on what to do, with the...

Thank you! Getting to even talk to her current gym is so difficult, but I’ll give it a go tonight… fees are due so fingers crossed they’ll actually get back to me.

Parents Any advice appreciated! (competitive pathways)

Hi everyone! Me again… My daughter got into a squad over the weekend at another club. They want 8 hours per week, with a plan to ‘work towards’ competing her first grade in spring 2025. Her current club are still to get back to me formally. Obviously they have told my daughter she isn’t strong...

Parents Any advice appreciated! (competitive pathways)

We had our answer tonight! They’ve decided that she’s not strong enough. They would need her to do ten consecutive pull ups, and ten consecutive toe touches as a minimum to get into squad. Not sure why that wasn’t said to me when I first asked, but oh well. We’re off to a trial for another club...

Parents Any advice appreciated! (competitive pathways)

Hi, I see, that makes a lot of sense! The head coach really didn’t say much when I asked, just that she would ask my daughters coaches and come back to me. That was Monday, she was in training last night and didn’t hear a thing. I’m starting to think the gym will just not get back to me, and...

Parents Any advice appreciated! (competitive pathways)

Hi @rd7 … I asked and the head coach said she’d talk to my daughter’s coach and we could take it from there. That was on Monday, I’ve not heard anything since. She also said there’s no such thing as in or out of age now? That they all just compete. I didn’t get a chance to ask… because from...

Parents Any advice appreciated! (competitive pathways)

It’s frustrating because when I asked at age 5/6, they kept telling me that she’s still young and to give it time. Now it feels like a rush to squeeze her in somewhere so she can do grades and levels! I will definitely ask, though my hopes are minimal as the club just has so much talent to...

I will try to do so, whenever I have asked before I normally get told the coach that’s in charge is too busy to speak

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I did mean preparation 1, sorry! The new club is a bit hit and miss, they have a couple of very good little ones but it seems to phase out in their older gymnasts. Chucking back into tumbles and some questionable bar work, but again this is in the older children...
