Alright guys, so I teach a level 4 girls class, but a little boy was put into my class this year because our gym unfortunately doesn't offer any higher level classes for boys. I know nothing about pommel horse, only that I want to try to accommodate the little boy and give him something to work...
Those a great, thanks for sharing! I might use the quote from Alicia on my blog, if that's okay with you. Right now I have a quote up from Nadia: "I don't run away from a challenge because I am afraid. Instead, I run toward it because the only way to escape fear is to trample it beneath your...
I always tell my girls to get their arms by their ears. I think it's a good lesson in form until they start doing more advanced tumbling and change their technique a little bit with the RO to BHS connection, like gymdog said. And also like gymdog said, it prevents back headsprings.
What exactly is the difference between the regular level 5 program and the fast track option if the hours are the same? I think that will be the deciding factor, whether or not you think it will make a big enough difference and be worthwhile to do fast track. I've never heard of anything like...
Just watched your dd's routine out of curiosity - such a cool routine and wonderful music! It's a great medley. Good choice.
To reinforce what everyone else has been saying, nevermind the rude responses. Excuse you for not violating copyright law. Sheesh. You're doing the right thing both for...
Welcome to the Chalk Bucket! Like everyone has said, the people on this site are great and always willing to provide helpful insights. It IS a crazy sport and it does suck you in - I don't think anyone here would deny that - but I also think we all agree that it is completely worth it. So many...
Just a thought... I'm a little surprised your doctor recommended that you take time off at all. I had horrible Sever's (I know how much it hurts even just to walk sometimes. Sorry you have to go through it too!) and it's really not something that goes away from resting. It comes back every time...
That's exciting! I went to watch my first big meet when I was about your daughter's age, and I still remember it. I'm sure she'll have tons of fun :) Gosh, I moved away from the St Paul area so long ago I don't even remember what's there. This site might help you... Link Removed You can search...
Wooohoo, you go, Bella!! Way to beat the boys! That's awesome :) She's so cute and tiny and then BAM! Don't mess with her!
My favorite gymnast moment of my childhood was taking the push-up test in school in 6th grade. We had to do push-ups to a tape that said "down, up, down, up" and so on...
Depends on the coach's philosophy. Some coaches like weight training, others don't. We did some when I was a gymnast, but for the most part my coaches were big on conditioning using body weight only. There's certainly enough exercises to do with your own body weight when you have things like...
I'm asking for a friend who does not have an account, and I will redirect any advice you all have to her. She is a coach, and one of her gymnasts (13 years old, level 4) gets very upset whenever a teammate gets a skill before her. She is struggling with her back handspring right now and every...
