Wow..another deaf educator gymnast mom!! I bet that doesn't happen often! I have a bachelor's in speech path and a master's in deaf ed. I just started my 14th year at our state residential school for the Deaf. I also have much appreciation for the coaches..and trust their decisions. I know...
I have a 9 yr old USAG level 6. She's had an abbreviated season this year due to injury. I have no idea what they will do with her next year. My almost 4 yr. old goes to a preschool class once a week with her school. We may try her in a dance/gym combo class this summer.
I just have to commiserate on the brutal scoring at Level 6! My gymmie is putting out nice routines and getting butchered! She's not the only one by any means..so that makes me feel bettter! She doesn't pay much attention to scores and I really try not to...it's tougher for me to ignore!;-)...
This is a problem that we encounter, as well. At gymmie's last meet, we friended a mom from another gym that was not happy that her own child was having to compete against girls in her own gym who were working out with their optional team (an additional 3 hours a week). There were 4 of them in...
After a knee injury in November and sitting out for 2 months.. only 3 weeks of practice..and she was finally able to compete in her first level 6 meet! It was really a great set-up for her first meet of the season. It was a very small meet..and basically an intra-squad..there was only one...
After injuring herself the first week of November..she is finally back to full practices!! She was really starting to have some fear issues about doing gym again and was getting very discouraged. This past weekend she realized that she was able to do some things (non-gymnastic) she hadn't been...
We are just coming off of an injury..so I understand exactly where you're coming from! She was unable to do any skills for about 2 months and she missed her first two meets. Her next one is in a couple of weeks and it looks like she's going to be able to compete. I hope yours heals well..and...
We are hoping that 2011 brings good gym things for us, too. My gymmie is now 8 full weeks out from her injury and is finally starting to feel like she might be ready to start tumbling again (she's been cleared by the doctor). I hope your 2011 is fabulous!
It looks like Ms. Gym Thing has some bone contusions. She has one on her femur and her tibia. Man..that must've been one tough landing! Last Wednesday, the doc said she would need 4-6 weeks to heal and she was to do nothing that caused her pain. My dh talked to the doc again today (he's a...
