I expect my daughters coaches to wear clothes that fit the work they are doing.
Hot days a tank top with some typical spandex nike pro shorts would be fine. Meet days I fully expect to see some team gear on the coaches - t-shirt and/or jacket.
I can say that the little girls look up to...
for myself and my daughter, successfully getting past the nerves was a lot of repetitions of full routines and practicing positive thoughts. The last part is critical to a positive mindset. Negative thoughts lead to wobbles. Positive thoughts give confidence.
a few things we learned over...
Gosh I feel bad for the L3s competing against a girl nearly ready for L6.
so the kip cast handstand is a L6/7 skill. BWO is L5 skill. Your daughter is working L5/6/7 skills not L4. She likely has all of her L4 skills.
I would be more concerned about if all of these upgrades are...
The requirements to get to Level 6 are either 2 scores AA at 36+ OR score a 32 in 1 level 5 meet (many do this during the summer). It is either/or vs the old system where everyone had to score out of L5. Now they just have a route for completely skipping L5 - streamlines it for girls that...
The mom does have a point about progressions. Our gym (developmental) does a series of progressions to learn the back flip before even doing it on the trampoline. First it is a jump up to a mat behind you. Then jump up and land on your back on a taller stack. Then jump up & land in a tuck...
With the high bar - it is time for her to drop back into skill progressions and regain her confidence. Is the coach telling her to do that or to 'just do that skill'? FWIW spotting to regain confidence is not a great approach. My daughter is working through a mental block and the very last...
She is 4. Would she even be old enough to compete L2 next season?
Another year on pre-team is a blessing. She gets time to perfect form (critical), gain strength (critical) and gain another year of maturity before competitions.
This is totally my daughter and me. We are both hypermobile as is my mom - thanks genetics.
highly flexible yet can be 'floppy' in certain elements (handstands, leaps, jumps, turns, etc).
She lost a lot of points in compulsories due to being 'floppy' as her coaches say it. My daughter says...
I don't look at D1 college as a reason to stay or go from DP. You should really look more at what makes your daughter happy, is the coaching good, is the environment helping her grow as a gymnast and as a woman.
If it were my daughter and she was on the fence, I would say 'stay' for Level 6...
The reasons to repeat again don't sound great. "not to rush bars" sounds like they didn't uptrain enough during the year. 'May not have enough L5 girls or a L6 team' - not the gymnasts issue and is the gym saying 'we don't want to deal with a small or 1 person level this year'. Did they...
It is by the code of points. A back layout is a A and has a different code than a back full which is a B skill. The coaches have the code of points and can tell you what saltos are needed.
You could do a back tuck, back pike and back layout and meet the 3 different saltos. However those...
It sounds like a mental block/fear. She should really go back to some progression skills that feel safe for her. Maybe it's extra mats. lower beam. mats on the sides of the beam etc. She needs to regain trust in her brain that she will connect the skill and land it.
My daughter is...
Form for each skill takes time to learn. In USAG DP they start learning it in pre-team and continue to build on those early skills every year. Some girls get it quickly. Others take a lot of time to pick up the nuances.
Best thing that can work is having her do her dance moves and prep...
There is an Atlantic City Airport with Spirit and American Airlines. maybe 100-200 flights a day. Not ideal for direct flights but a decent option.
Our gym goes every year but we are somewhat local.... going to be much larger this year - 4200 gymnasts competing between DP/XCEL/JOGA
