Just read Iowa cutting the men's team. Along with men and women swimming and diving, men's tennis. I am so upset and devastated for them. We have cheered and gone to their meets for years. I am truly worried for men's gymnastics.
An update, but still so many unknowns ahead! We dropped my son off to college, met with gym coaches, and he has met the other team guys. First official practice is Monday. He's so excited and in gymnastics heaven! It is great to see him so happy and the biggest smile ever. My son just hopes that...
I want to clarify why clicked cameras for parents to watch outside of facility. (thus I didn't click the others about parents) I don't think any parents should be allowed in. I also think in addition to asking child about symptoms ask about anyone in their home with symptoms then child shouldn't...
My son was shooting for a walk on spot at his dream school trying to impress at state, regional, national all canceled. Now everything seems so unknown. He was signed up to do the summer session classes (and this then would allow gymnastics training there) but they moved to online only and of...
Through middle school I homeschooled since that school got out so late and he would have been over hour late to practice everyday. (we also live over hour from gym) When he went to 9th grade I talked to the school counselor about only doing the exact number of credits/required classes to...
I did read that the original poster thankfully found that her daughter did NOT have this injury but thought I would post my son's experience for any future readers. I know I was searching for information. My son had months of pain, physical therapy sessions and misdiagnoses till finally getting...
Such a good thread and so so true LOL! I really hate the olympic comment. There seems to be no good way to answer. I have tried several approaches and none of them seem really good.
#1 Agree with the them. "Yes, I hope my kid does!" You may seem cocky then and then the person really expects...
My son (first year level 9) only trains 15 hrs (3 hrs x 5 days a week). I know compared to other future stars boys we have met they do more, around 20. Hopefully my son can make his 15 hrs work since I don't think his coach will add more.
This is will make my son only have one year at level 9. I wonder how he will feel when he finds out about this. I don't see how it will help him, that's for sure. I do feel bad for the boys who will be missing out on a future stars year.
The vault scoring for our team has been all over the place and confusing. For example a level 8 yamas*ita got a 12.5 and on fig it says 12.0. Now in JO USAG for *level 7* it says 12.5 for the same vault.
Does anyone know what the start values are for level 8 vaults or at least be able to put this list in an order of least start value to highest start value if you don't know the actual numbers? Also, would the start value be different for level 9 or 10? Thank you!
