Her hand doc (sports med hand specialist for the White Sox and Chicago Bulls), said a plate will hasten her healing because she can start rehab right away. She want to try to be competition ready in 2014.
If they did pins, she would have to be immobilized for 3 weeks and have two separate...
Ugh. My DD, getting ready to compete the new L6, broke her hand doing ROBHS on the tumble track. The crack/snap was heard by everyone within 20 feet. She just placed her hand wrong. She has a rotational fracture of her 3rd metacarpal, her finger is kind of pointing in the wrong direction. A...
*update, and brag alert*
We finally found a gym - a park district gym that would take her back in October. Her practice schedule (number of hours) was cut in half compared to the time she was spending in the gym per week at her old gym. They moved her back to Level 5. Today we did a meet in...
Thanks for all of the ideas, there are so many of them and I appreciate it! She did a trial class for sports acro last night, not sure how much she really liked it though. She said during her first ROBHSBT tumbling pass since her back injury, her back cracked and she feels so much better! She...
I have never heard of Xcel - maybe that is an option. I went to their website and couldn't find any local club info. I will continue to look into it. Thank you so much.
I think it is ultra-competitive and I am looking at the wrong gyms OR, there is something that I have said or done in the past that has blacklisted her. I can't think of anything that I have done but at this point I guess anything is possible. I appreciate your suggestions about the Y team etc...
I feel like I am the crazy one. She asked me last night before bed if she could do a beginning gymnastics class somewhere to see if she got an invitation to be on their team. Prior to her back muscle pull, she was working back handsprings with much success on the beam, front walkovers on the...
Last night my dd was cut from another team tryout. This is the 3rd time in 4 months teams have said no to her. She is rehabbing her back after rehabbing her wrist, she is too tall, and lost her kip again throughout the last month because her coaches didn't want her in the gym with her back...
She is not giving up and we may have found a new gym ;). I am pretty sure the mistake that I made was choosing the wrong the gyms for her to "tryout" in. We have so many gyms in Region 5 it is hard to figure out where to go. Keep your fingers crossed. BTW...she worked out last night and her back...
I think the other gyms where she tried out, were looking for kids that could and would go elite only. Some of the gyms that I talked to via phone and email said that their groups were full and they just couldn't take any more kids....One gym said that they didn't let new comers on the team...
