Have to agree with previous posts. Our level 4 doesn't travel over 4-5 hours. It would be fun IF you wanted a vacation to Disney but with a new baby - no way!
I will say first: we have 4 kids and my gymnast is the youngest so that plays into the picture. My oldest DS (marching band & soccer), 2nd DS (baseball, football), 3rd DD (volleyball, softball, Girl Scouts) and finally my youngest DD (gymnastics, Girl Scouts). Now, if we had fewer children...
This is an interesting thread. Every child is so different, my older kids have gone away to sleep away sport or YMCA camps and done fine being away from home but my youngest is different and doesn't sleep away from home well. Her gym did a team camp in early June - it was a lot of hours of...
I agree with everyone about trusting the coaches and not comparing one child w/ another. I know at our gym the skills are critical for moving up: no kip - no level 5
My daughter also has always been the youngest this coupled with the fact that she is very petite is not always a good thing. The older/taller girls want to carry her around, she doesn't have much in common with the older girls, etc. I am relieved that there will be a child younger than her...
I would trust your gut feeling & experience. My dd who is 7 has moved to L4 but her gym requires that you have all the level 4 skills before you are invited to move up. I was worried she wouldn't get the FHC by the May 30 deadline but she did it. Every gym and coach is different on their...
What age have your girls gone away to out of state or week long camp? Or maybe the question should not be age so much as what level do you think it is beneficial to go to a camp like Flip Fest?
Love reading the board, our youngest child is 7 and finishing her level 3 season with the Spring State meet in early April. She has improved so much since last fall, today's meet she had an AA 35.35. We switched gyms in December and it has really made a big difference.
