Most of my daughter's leos over the years have been GK. They tried a few other ones that never seemed to work out, but always went back to GK. However, last year they switched to Sylvia P and my daughter and her teammates love it. Finding a bra that worked with it was a bit challenging, but...
I voted big, established gym, but honestly I would probably pick a middle option if there was one. It is not a small gym and they have a ton of upper optionals/level 10s. But I would guess most people here haven't heard of them so I wouldn't say they are big in that sense. 🤷♀️
I live in the area and have a daughter at one of the gyms mentioned above. :) just in general, I would recommend TAG if you are in western Wake area. They have a solid reputation and a nice facility. I think Superior (SGA) has a great facility.. Not sure about their current coaching staff...
I think it really depends on the person.. everyone is different in how they handle stress and also everyone has different priorities. I will say that my daughter has managed to juggle it all without compromising anything, although she amazes me everyday and I know I could never have done that...
I agree it definitely varies. And the higher the level, the more frequently they may need to be replaced. I think my daughter's first pair lasted for 3 seasons (level 4-7). Levels 8 and 9 probably a year each. In level 10 though, she wears them out in a couple of months sometimes.
Interesting. I live in the area but haven’t heard of them tbh. I don’t know what gym you are currently at, but feel free to dm me and I can give you my thoughts about other gyms in the area.
I just realized I haven't introduce myself yet, so here goes.
I joined here when my daughter was just getting started in gymnastic (hence my username) and she's now in her 4th year of level 10 and is a junior in high school. She competed every level except 6 (gym didn't compete 6 at the time...
It is a separate session at regionals just for the state teams. The gymnasts still compete like normal in that session for individual placements, but instead of representing their gym in the team part of the awards, they represent their state. They get special gear (leotard, etc) too.
I agree. And as a long time parent in the sport now (ignore my user name, I just never changed it lol), I think so many underestimate the commitment involved and the impact to the gymnast and their family. I consider our family lucky in that we were able to make it work for my daughter. Her...
There are definitely people that do it. And some for many, many years. We've been fortunate in that the gym my dd goes to is only about 15 minutes away. Personally, I don't think she (or I) could have handled anywhere near a 2 hour commute for years on end. We do have a few gymnasts at my...
Does anyone know if there is (or will be) a host hotel for this meet? Or when the schedule is coming out? Their website is not very informative, unless I'm missing something.

My daughter and all her teammates love ginnasta narrow double buckles. So far we've been able to get new pairs in time but I do worry about it, as the owner is always struggling to meet demand. My daughter loves them though so we just cross our fingers.
I know it's different because my daughter's gym did already have a history of getting kids to level 10/college, but I know we didn't discuss a plan nearly as early as level 7. I believe it was after she had competed level 8 and was training for 9, that the coaches even mentioned level...
