Parents Dd5 wants to quit, so she says

I had a whole reply and lost it. Ugh. It boiled down to me realizing that she has had a LOT of coaches filling in here and there because of summer. Maybe all that transition was bothering her! I do agree that maturity plays a part too. She is quite immature but has progressed so much over the...

Parents Dd5 wants to quit, so she says

Dd 5 is on the developmental team. She got bumped up to hour and a half twice a week at the beginning of summer. She's been going an hour twice a week over a year now. She has started saying she doesn't want to go because it's hard work, makin her tired, or she wants to stay home because she...

    Press Handstands and Rope Climbs

I've been wondering about this for my dd. At what age should they be able to climb to the top? Dd is in an adv rec class 4-6 year olds. Most of them can climb to the top. She can't. She just turned 5 last week. The goal for her class is just to get half way! Would I be a CGM if I had her do some...

Help me prepare my son for tryouts!

Well, he decided not to go. We talked and watched YouTube videos and he said he just wants to stay in his "regular class" and have fun! That's fine by me!

Help me prepare my son for tryouts!

This is all great advice! I will go over all this with him. Gymnastics is the only sport he has truly shown an interest in so I'm really hoping he does well!

Help me prepare my son for tryouts!

My ds 7 loves gymnastics really wants to go to class more than once a week. His sister (4) is in an advanced class and goes twice a week. Boys team tryouts are Friday. I really don't know anything about men's gymnastics. My son really enjoys his rec class, but I think he is fairly average as far...

Is this how most advanced rec programs are? warning:Rant!

I get that I really do. What I am seeing is an overwhelmed coach with an assistant who is "in training" responsible for 8 3-5 yos. My dd flyS through the obstacles because no one is around to watch her.

Is this how most advanced rec programs are? warning:Rant!

Two days a week, hour each class. They generally warm up on the long trampoline track (no clue what it's called) then move to an obstacle course on the floor. Then back to the long trampoline combined with a different obstacle. Next it's over to the regular trampoline. After that they work on...

Is this how most advanced rec programs are? warning:Rant!

She's certainly not the quiet one, but she has mastered the ability to take turns, be patient etc. I think part of my frustration is that this class Is supposed to be a developmental invitation only class. Over the past sessions it seems less developmental and more playing around. Which would be...

Is this how most advanced rec programs are? warning:Rant!

Because IMO the earlier she works on flexibility and some beginner skills the better. What I'm *thinking* is that she was obviously pulled from a rec class into advanced for a reason and that reason was not for her to continue on the same path playing around in class instead of actually...

Thank you for that perspective. It is very true.

Is this how most advanced rec programs are? warning:Rant!

I'm just complaining :). I couldn't change gyms as the next closet one is an hour away. I didn't even think about her being bored. I can tell that she seems frustrated with the lack of attention. I can tell that quite often now she asks for help or to be "watched". I do want her to have fun. I...

Is this how most advanced rec programs are? warning:Rant!

DD 4 is on her third session of the advanced kinder gym class for 3-5 year olds. I was fine with it at first. Her class had about 6 girls, a head coach and an assistant. Sessions are 10 weeks (which adds to the inconsistency IMO). The next session we got a different coach. She was more focused...
