my kids current gym doesn’t even do levels 3-5. They do xcel bronze, silver and gold then they move straight to level 6(they do have to test out of 4 and 5 but they do this in house). Also 7 isn’t too young that’s crazy. My kid started at another gym at 7 and did level 3, then 2 years of level 4...
Thanks for the reply, we actually found a gym that does xcel until level 6. She has been there for 2 months now and is doing so well and actual has improved a ton on her bars! They allowed her to test out of level 5 last week and she did get a 32 but has decided to give xcel gold a try this year...
That seems crazy. My daughter’s old gym only did 9 hours a week for level 3. The few years we were there only 3 girls got held back because they got below 34’s. Most of the girls scored in 37-38 range.
My daughter repeated level 4 because of scoring low on bars and was so bored. This year she was suppose to do level 5 but just wasn’t into it since it’s not much different then 4 and she still struggles at bars plus her gym doesn’t really do upgrades at all just the same thing over and over. We...
My daughters gym does xcel only instead of level 3-5 and you do have to test out of level 4/5 to get into level 6. They usually work on the 4/5 routines through the year and then do a in gym meet during summer to test out of both and move to 6. My daughter is in gold and is trying to test out of...
My daughter used to attend a gym that did levels 3-5 and then went to optionals. She was struggling massively in level 4 because she is not strong at bar and had to compete 2 years at level 4 even though she was great at the other 3 events. They then wanted to hold her back another year due to...
They told me regardless of her hitting the 32 to move up she won’t be allowed to do level 6 without a cast handstand and straight arm kip unfortunately(she totally could get 9.5 on beam, vault and floor currently but probably around a 6 on bars in level 5). But they did say she could do level 5...
She is extremely strong(she’s built like Simone bulky muscles) she’s actually the most muscular on the team and works out everyday. The coaches think she’s got issues with timing because she keeps growing so that’s why she keeps going back. They said they suggest she working level 5/6 over...
She actually did t and t when she was 5-7 and was very good at it(she was level 5 on all events working toward 6). With that said she quit because she was bored of it but maybe we can revisit it!
My daughter is almost 10. She competed level 4 last year and it was her second year. She is amazing at floor, beam and vault(she can do level 7-8 skills for all 3) but she can’t for the life of her figure out bars and she is about to give up. She was getting her kips on both high and low bar...
I agree 100%. Also they aren’t even offering another year of 4 and basically forcing us to move to excel if she doesn’t get to the skills they deem enough to move up(which doesn’t seem clear to me).
If we leave I was just going to set a meeting up with the coaches and tell them we feel like she isn’t excelling at the gym and we have decided to move another gym that fits her needs better so hopefully it won’t cause drama.
Most of the girls can’t get their kips or if they are they aren’t connecting them they just stop and do the next skill. All of them seem very sloppy. They also don’t do any uptraining during the season and they are expecting these girls to go straight to kip handstand and do clear hips right...
