Does anyone know if a kip to straight body is an acceptable skill on p-bars? My athletes were starting their routine with this, then lifting their legs to a L sit. I was under the impression that it would count as 2 A skills. However, a judge recently told us that it would be a .3 deduction...
I have a couple gymnasts that struggle with holding proper shaping to cast to horizontal. We drill for it every day we have bars yet their middle drops as soon as they start to cast. We work core religiously during conditioning. What are some new drills for shaping and over all strength to get...
So many people in my gym are doing platinum bars without a B skill and I'm confused why my coaches haven't said anything about the b skill the routine goes something like this
Kip - Squat on - high bar kip - back hip circle - undershoot from highbar
This seems like a gold routine to me so would...
I am not on a typical competitive team but am starting to learn giants and the problem is my hands keep slipping off by the second giant or the flyaway. The chalk is fine as no one else has this problem but for some reason, even on doing a few basic tap swings I always feel my hands slipping...
So last season I competed Gold for a second time, and I'm pretty hopeful that I will be able to go to Platinum this year.
I'm pretty close to having all my skills, most of my newer skills that I got for Platinum do need to be cleaned up a little, but I can do them pretty decently, I think. I...
Would you as a coach, make a 13 year old girl in excel gold with a low pain tolerance work bars with a rip? Not a bloody one or anything, but a normal one that is taped.
What are the most common release moves that you’ve seen for level 9 bars? Or what are the most common routines that you see at meets, particularly for first year level 9s?
Hi, so as a coach I'm trying to constantly improve as is everyone. I would like to hear some new ideas on how to organize time on bars. Example being start with drills or skills then begin to work on combining skills/ routines. Any ideas and thoughts are greatly appreciated.
one of my athletes who is training level 6 has been having wrist pain when doing backhand springs, so we are taking a few weeks off of weight bearing on her hands. The only thing she is allowed to do on bars is swings. Today we did:
-swings/giants on steel bar
-tap swings on HB
-flyaway from tap...
Hi all,
Looking for some advice for my 9-year-old. She just finished her Level 4 season, and while she had a good amount of success on vault/floor, and did well on beam when she hit, she struggled big time on bars.
She has excellent air awareness, and is a powerful tumbler - she will sometimes...
I recently went to OU vs Florida's womens meet. I noticed the mats and equipment are not raised on podiums.
Why do they do podiums in elite? Out of curiosity.. Also, how does the equipment stay stable enough on podiums?
Do you use tiger paws more for support or can you compete in them or both?
And how do you help wrist pain with bars? Her connection is getting much better. Now she just needs to connect the squat on with it all but it’s definitely faster! Like no pause.
But her wrists are having some soreness...
Would any judges or level 10 experts be able to provide some feedback on a level 10 bar routine? We are trying to figure out where all of the deductions are to hopefully clean it up and/or she and coach might make some changes? Please PM if anyone is willing to take a look.
Hello! I was wondering if someone could tell me what mounts are allowed for xcel gold bars. Is a pullover from 1 foot permitted? I’m getting conflicting info and am worried about my child’s routine. Thanks so much!
Is it dangerous to have your thumbs above the bar and not together with the other fingers? Does it make elements more complicated?
Any tips against rips? How to not get them and how to treat them right. Is it possible to have more rips because of how I grap the bar?
Any tips for being less...
DD is struggling to connect the timing for her bars rountine. She pauses between each skill.
She said you have to almost think about what your doing before you do it. Which as fast as girls go on bars I am sure to some level you do have to.
I told her maybe visualize the routine before...
