I am acquiring a pommel horse from a local gym that is closing. Anyone have any suggestions for padding under the horse or perhaps pictures of what you did in your home? I also got a used mat that’s about 5’x8’ but I’m not sure if this is large enough. I’m hoping to make room for it in our...
The Horse Dancer is a movie on Netflix. One of the coaches at our gym is in it as a camp counselor. I think she only says 2 lines though. Anyways, it's about gymnastics and some of your littles might enjoy it. IMO The quality of the movie and acting is bad, but some gymnasts just like movies...
So I scratched my throat during something, not exactly sure what though. Since then my voice is horse, it hurts to swallow, eat, drink, TALK! So I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to coach with a sore voice.
My coach decided we should all try to find a 'cool' skill to do on beam to distinguish us from the other competition. I was thinking I could do things like pommel scissors etc. because I was okay at them. Do you think they look okay?
And don't say 'ask my coach,' I want YOUR opinion :D From...
Just wanted to share that the early recruiting phenomena, that has been the topic of many CB threads, is creeping into other sports (or maybe it's been in other sports, but keeps expanding). Just saw a 2019 baseball prospect (an 8th grader) verbally commit to Mississippi State University. He was...
Another thread about popular SoCal meets got my mind working...because I'm in Southern California....and I looked up a couple of the meet suggestions...and my gym is on the roster...
Would it be strange for me to attend a meet when my daughter isn't even competing yet? The sole purpose would be...
DD is in an I-hate-beam moment. I told her that just about every girl who's made it to L8 or beyond has had at least one moment when she wished that all the balance beams in the world could be collected in one spot, chopped up into bits, and set on fire.
What is the equivalent for boys and...
There have been lots of threads about how old is too old...but I was thinking about a post that once said "you're as good as you're going to get" by age 12. I am sure this is a generalization but got me thinking...
There is a girl age 11 who is a strong balanced gymnast, level 8 this year...
Just saw the newest update ---level 8 age 11-12 no pommels on the horse, level 8 13+ still use pommels.

Of late, my little guy has finally gotten the hang of doing loops on the horse without the pommels. He is beside himself with excitement and wants to spend all his time doing stuff that looks more like all that cool stuff the big guys are doing. I know all of this is going to benefit him in the...
My 8 year old son has been saving and saving to buy a mushroom. He now has $125, which is what someone had offered him, but sold it before he saved up enough. Anyone have one for sale or know of how we can get one? We live in Costa Mesa, CA, but can pay for shipping.
Alright guys, so I teach a level 4 girls class, but a little boy was put into my class this year because our gym unfortunately doesn't offer any higher level classes for boys. I know nothing about pommel horse, only that I want to try to accommodate the little boy and give him something to work...
Just watching the men at the worlds and was reminded of the origins of the pommel discipline - thought I'd share this picture or Louis Smith doing "Real" pommel horse
