MAG Padding under home pommel horse

I am acquiring a pommel horse from a local gym that is closing. Anyone have any suggestions for padding under the horse or perhaps pictures of what you did in your home? I also got a used mat that’s about 5’x8’ but I’m not sure if this is large enough. I’m hoping to make room for it in our...

    MAG JO pommel horse question

Level 10 question. A judge told our coach that the B handstand dismount counts as a C on pommel. We are surprised we were just told this. Is it true?

MAG Pommel circles and cartwheel leading side

Hi, Does anyone know why my son’s coach would tell him to lead pommel circles and cartwheels with the same side? Currently he leads cartwheels with his left leg but circles with his right hand. Apparently it has something to do with teaching round back handspring later? Any thoughts please...

Pommel Circles and cartwheel leading hands

Hi, Does anyone know why my son’s coach would tell him to lead pommel circles and cartwheels with the same side? Currently he leads cartwheels with his left leg but circles with his right hand. Apparently it has something to do with teaching round back handspring later? Any thoughts please...

MAG I feel like a dolt RE: mushroom/pommel

OK, so DS has been training new skills on mushroom (L6). He showed me his routine the other day, with all the new skills in it. I can't tell the difference. I mean, I get sometimes his leg is up, sometimes they're together; sometimes he's belly down and others more belly up...but I really can't...

WAG Opinion on doing pommel horse like skills on beam?

My coach decided we should all try to find a 'cool' skill to do on beam to distinguish us from the other competition. I was thinking I could do things like pommel scissors etc. because I was okay at them. Do you think they look okay? And don't say 'ask my coach,' I want YOUR opinion :D From...

MAG Pommel Pants it is WAR

The war between my son and his pants is in full swing. You see my kid is not a small kid and not a big kid. He is 10, 52 inches tall and 60 lbs, his legs are on the short side. His GK medium pants (that are going in to their 3rd season) are getting to be too short, and the larges look like...

    MAG Pommel wrist thingies

So, I know this has been discussed before, but I hate searching on my phone so hopefully people will chime in ;) D has been taping his wrist for pommel. He wants some kind of wrap. NOt sure if he needs one that comes up on the hand at all. Recommendations? Coach mentioned skidz but those...

    MAG Pommel Routine

My son had a competition this last weekend, and the first event they went on was rings. He did OK at rings. Not his best, but decent enough to win 1st place. Another boy on his team, who is amazing, told my son that he should have gotten a better score than my son and gave him all of the reasons...

    Coaches Pommel/Mushroom drills

The mushroom/pommel seems to be the least favorite event for our level 5 and 6 boys to practice- no matter how much we try to motivate they like to sit more than circle. I would love it anyone has any fun drills to encourage the boys to try harder during practice. We have done circle...

    Coaches Rec. Class Pommel/Mushroom Circuit

Hey all! I've been looking for more ways to make pommel/mushroom more fun for beginners in a recreational environment. These kids range from 5-7 years old and have been getting frustrated with the event (Just like any other boy ever). The most these kids can do at the moment is swing around a...

    MAG pommel wrist supports

My 14 year old L7/training 8 needs wrist supports for pommel - everything hurts most of the time, but the pommel/wrist thing is getting to him. His tiger paws help with floor and vault, so now he wants the pommel ones. There is only one kid ahead of him level wise, and coach is young, so I...

MAG When do boys start hating pommel horse?

DD is in an I-hate-beam moment. I told her that just about every girl who's made it to L8 or beyond has had at least one moment when she wished that all the balance beams in the world could be collected in one spot, chopped up into bits, and set on fire. What is the equivalent for boys and...

    MAG Level 8 Pommel

My son's coach wants him to do his level 7 pommel horse routine for level 8. I know he had the magyar sivado in it. He did all the 7 bonuses. Will this work for a level 8 routine? Will it be successful as a level 8 routine??

MAG Ten-O Pommel pants fit compared to GK?

Hi parents or coaches, Has anyone tried the Ten-O Pommel pants for your son or team? I noticed their size chart is quite different from GK, but size charts are sometimes still misleading. Looking for any anecdotal examples of fit. For reference, my DS(7) is wearing GK size medium, but the...

Parents Looking for a boy's mushroom pommel horse trainer.

My 8 year old son has been saving and saving to buy a mushroom. He now has $125, which is what someone had offered him, but sold it before he saved up enough. Anyone have one for sale or know of how we can get one? We live in Costa Mesa, CA, but can pay for shipping.

    MAG Question about pommel

Forgive me as we are just establishing a boy's team and I'm just learning the basics about the men's side. My question is about the pommel horse. Is the "ideal" routine one where the gymnast's legs never touch the pommel or is it expected that their legs will occasionally brush against the horse?
