New to the sport. How common or expected private lessons at young’s ages/lower levels (L3/age 6) the concept sounds crazy to me, but seems to be commonplace. And perspective is appreciated.
My totally internet-scared opinion is CB needs more security. Like waywayway more. Anyone can know gymnastics enough to make a 10 comments on posts, most of which could just be restating what other people said. My vote is 50+ posts and being a member for months. That way, it would be easier for...
I know of a special needs/medical needs child who will be moving to CH, NC in March. She typically does a 1-hour private lesson each week. I'd like to be able to tell the family what gym to look into or even match them up with an instructor if possible. She does not have any behavior issues...
Just FYI in case you missed it: JBS posted a message in the MAG parents Group (and in the "what's new" section but I never would have seen it there) that the groups section of Chalkbucket is closing on April 24.
Hi all,
I was wondering if there is such a thing as a private coach for gymnasts similar to Coach Up for other sports. I understand it may be more taboo in gymnastics than in other sports to get private lessons outside the gym. I recall reading a post at least a year ago on this forum about a...

So my dd won a 1 hour private lesson with our head coach, who really only coaches the level 10's, in a raffle. She is really excited! She is a level 4 who just finished her competition season and is now training level 5/6 skills. The private will be next week and I'm not sure if they will expect...
Is it wrong to take private lessons at a gym different than your team's gym? I am certain that the owners know each other and it would only be time before my daughter's gym got wind of it.
Do you click on the person's name and "start a conversation"? OP on that other thread seems to have used my response as the tipping point for her replies and I think is confusing me with another poster. I just wanted to see the basement tumble trak ;) Don't want to stir things up, just want to...
Let me preface this to say this is not about my dd or her gym. Her coaches offer privates, and we have done a few that were very beneficial. But I have a friend in a neighboring state whose dd is struggling with her level 7 series on that four letter word...beam. The child would love a private...
If anyone has time for a few PMs, I would really appreciate it. I had a small situation this evening and I would like to share and get advice from a coach's perspective on how you would prefer a parent to handle it. It isn't safety related, just something that really bothered me, and I want to...
My daughters have their state gymnastics meet the his weekend. My older daughter has struggled a bit this season but is finally starting to catch up. In order to give her a little boost of confidence, hubby and I discussed her having a private lesson only to learn the coach was out of town...
I posted here before about my daughter struggling with her squat on. She can do it now, but she keeps her ‘shoot thru’ style – meaning, she places her right foot on the bar first, then her left foot joins, she stands up and jumps. She is quite consistent in these not-so-good-looking squat ons...
Coaches, under what reasons/circumstances would you allow your gymnast to take a private lesson from another coach outside of your gym? Also what are the reasons you do not want your gymnasts to do so?
Parents/gymnasts, what reasons/circumstances have you presented to your coach(es) where...
Another parent is on the floor taking pics with flash of their kid while DD is having a private lesson on beam. I have sat for 15 minutes biting my tongue. Is this OK???

How do private lessons work in your gym? It is getting more and more difficult in my gym to get "an every once in a while" private because so many parents are "creating" their own classes through private lessons. So I must ask...
1. Can you have as many as you want?
2. Can you "book" a...
ChalkBucket was originally created to help everyone learn more about gymnastics. Almost 9 years and we are still holding to that concept...but it is time to change with the times a bit.
ChalkBucket has historically had 3 main usergroups...parents...gymnasts...and coaches. In order to get full...
