Just curious to see if your kids are taught the sole circle? From Level 5 onward it can be used in routines and even is a pre-cursor to toe-on........Our gym does not teach it regularly.... Does yours???
It seems SO useful as an alternative to falling back on a squat on. Maybe there is a reason...
The sole circle dismount is the Xcel dismount of choice in my gym, and one I am not super familiar with teaching. My current group is sort of a mixed bag as far as the skill goes- 1/3 can do it quite well but with lots of form issues (fixable), 1/3 can do it decently with nice form but no rise...
Anyone got any good sole circle drills? I've got a kid who can do them in straps easily and can do it on the real bar when I spot only her knees, but doesn't quite get around on real bar. Any help would be great, hoping she can get this for zones next weekend! Thanks
Hi there,
I need some advice on helping a kid overcome fear. Firstly, she is scared of sole circle and will bail even with double spot. She does them in straps no problem, and the only other drill I have her work on is pike swings on the real bar.
Her second fear is roundoff back handspring...
I found something on youtube today while searching for some good bar drills.
I did know that there was a front sole circle, off course. It Is pretty easy, I think. I sometimes have my girls working front to back sole circles in a row.
However, I didn't know that you could do a front sole...
My daughter is a level 9 who was out with an injury for over 3 months. She recently began practicing again and has competed one time. When she competed she did not do her overshoot as she is having fear issues right now. She did a pirouette and took the deduction for only having one bar change...
I am working on sole circles (not the dismount), and I always peel off and land on my back. I do have dowel grips by the way. I will try to get a video, but i will be at camp all this week, but maybe i could get one later.
any tips? thanks in advance :)
The new level 5 bar routine gives the option of clear hip, stalder, or sole circle. Are most gyms going to do the clear hip? How are you deciding which skill to do? Thanks:)
I am desperately scouring the internet for sole circle drills. How do you teach a sole circle? Not the dismount, the real, all the way around the bar sole circle. We only have a high strap bar. I have never spotted them but I know how, but I still don't feel like that's a safe way to start...
Just a quick question,
Are you allowed to do a sole circle (stoop circle, dunno what it's really called, basically a squat-on and then you go around the bar and then jump to the high bar)
In level 5 or 6 without a deduction?
Thanks!
I am having a really hard time with my sole-circle on bars. I don't have the best grip strength and I feel like I'm going to peel off the bar when I do them (I only have once, but my heart leaps everytime I go for it). I'll do them but they scare me quite a bit. So they're really on and off...
I'm working really hard on my sole circle because it's a bonus for my level. I get to about 45 on the bar, and then fall off! How do I get enough power to go all the way around in my sole circle?
P.S, it's the one where you go all the way around on the bar to squat on/pike on position and then...
Hi all,
A couple of our gymnasts have a competition in 2 weeks and are still really struggling with the piked sole circle (the one where they cast and pike on, circle around the bar until almost back to the top and then catch the high bar)
Any tips?
The gymnasts aren't allowed to bend their...
My daughter is a nine year old level 6. She's been having a great year (36.9 AA last meet), and is having so much fun. I don't interfere with her coaches because they are great and know what they are doing. I do not have a clue about gymnastics! She has all of her level 7 skills, and will...
Hello!
I've been working on a transistion from the high bar to low bar/release move, it's called something like the sole circle release move. I prefer to call it the squirrel move :] It reminds me of a flying squirrel, or something like that hahaah. If you are hanging on the high bar facing the...
This may sound super silly but I am having troubles finding the right place to spot on a Straddle on Sole Circle dismount. We just haven't done them till this point. I have taught them in the past but I have some girls that are having troubles gaining the confidence to get their feet on. I...
